Puttur, Mar 9: A young man was killed on the spot after a speeding tipper rammed into his two-wheeler near Aditya Hotel at Uppinangady here on Wednesday March 9.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Hasainar (28), son of Ahamed, a resident of Hirtadka, Uppinangady.

A driver by profession, Hasainar was riding home in his TVS Jupiter scooter, when, on receiving a call on his cellphone, he stopped his two-wheeler beside the highway near Aditya Hotel and answered the call. While he was talking on the phone, a speeding and recklessly driven tipper plying towards Nelyady rammed into Hasainar, killing him on the spot. The tipper dragged the two-wheeler for a short distance, and the impact was such that it was completely wrecked.

However, the tipper driver, instead of stopping, sped away in a bid to escape, but the alert locals began to chase the tipper. The driver then stopped the vehicle about a 100 metres from the accident spot, got out and ran into a nearby plantation. The locals continued to chase him, but he managed to escape.

Hasainar leaves behind his parents, wife, two daughters and a son.

The tipper lorry belongs to Rajkamal Constructions.

The highway where the accident took place is quite wide and it is said that Hasainar had got off from the road and stopped near an electricity pole to answer the phone call. Still, the tipper hit him. Also, it is learnt that the tipper also scraped past a lorry that was parked behind Hasainar's scooter.

Following the accident, traffic was affected on the national highway for about an hour.

Puttur traffic police have registered a case.

mobiles are becoming a nuisance nowadays, people should use it with common sense, maybe the tipper driver was also talking on his phone or drunk.

I believe same is in Africa too. but it is unfortunate. my condolences to the family.

The Construction company should make sure that his kids education and their upbringing is taken care off. we need strict laws so that people fear the policies and the consequences.

Our law is very weak especially in accident cases so better to public catch such drivers (reckless truck drivers) and cut off the legs he should know/feel the pain till his death and at the same time lesson for others.

Every time you see in the news there small vehicle drivers are victim of accidents. Big vehicle drivers look like careless drivers or incompetent driving skills or they are working too many hours and job pressure by the boses. There should be betyer system. Government should have strict licence issuing test for these careless drivers. Feel sorry for people die no their own fault

    This is called destiny.

When I was young adult, in Bombay any accidents takes place, the locals used to catch the driver and thrash them nicely.

I request all Kudla/Mangalore locals to do the same irrespective of caste, creed, religion etc etc. When our own people die, how long we can tolerate? This is the only way to stop careless driving and stop loosing one's precious life.
