Manish Arora to launch first menswear collection online

New Delhi, March 10 (IANS): Ace designer Manish Arora is making his debut in menswear line via online fashion destination Koovs.com. The designs take their inspiration from the dizzying graphics of Temari balls, a folk art form from Japan.

The collection which will be launched on March 31 has been titled "Indian by Manish Arora X KOOVS" and it vouches to be a mix of multiple inspirations that are true to his signature style.

"Collaborating with Koovs will allow me to provide consumers with an opportunity to own an exclusive signature Manish Arora product at accessible prices," Arora told IANS.

Inspired by the dizzying graphics of Temari balls, a folk art form from Japan, the collection will together busy prints with stripes and other geometric motifs. With black, white and gold as main colours, each garment will highlight emerald, fuchsia and electric blue hues.

Some of the pieces that will be defined in the line include bomber jackets, shirts, T-shirts, vests, sweatshirts, trousers and shorts, and accessories like backpacks, high-tops, espadrilles, flip-flops, socks and phone covers.

Talking about the decision to rope in Arora, chief executive officer of Koovs Group Mary Turner says that the designer's style of giving modern twist to "traditional influences from India, Japan, Aztec is what captured the group's imagination".

"It's always difficult to measure the reaction prior to a product launch. We know his popularity and we know the collaboration product looks very strong, so we hope our customers will agree with us. This is menswear collection, when Manish (Arora) is known for womenswear, so we are very excited," Turner added.

Priced between Rs.495 to Rs.1,995, the collection will be available exclusively on the website.
