Mangalore, Sep 25: After a lull of a few days,  rains have lashed the city since Monday, September 24 evening, affecting the normal life of citizens and farming community in the outskirts of city. The choked drains caused flash floods in many parts of the city.

The residents of Kottara junction locality on National Highway (NH) 17 suffered because of flash floods, since the rain water passing through culverts located in the neighbourhood was blocked by silt and garbage, sources said.  Civic workers have been pressed into service to clear the water way by the city authorities.

In another incident, an open well at Kandettu, near Urva Store collapsed in the rains. A house located close to this well also lies in danger now, locals said.
