Kasargod: 14-year-old boy dies after falling into quarry

Kasargod, Mar 11: In a tragic incident, a 14-year-old boy died after he fell into a stone quarry while riding his bicycle at Periya near Bekal here on Thursday March 10.

The deceased has been identified as Abid, son of Mohammed Padappu, a resident of Kuniya Adka.

It is suspected that he fell into the quarry after his bicycle was hit by an unknown vehicle. 

As it was late evening, there were no workers in the quarry. Abid who was struggling to get out was later rescued by the locals and admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. However, he failed to respond to treatment and breathed his last the same night.

Police sources said that his body will be taken to Periyaram hospital for post-mortem.

Abid was a student of eighth standard in Kuniya government school.

Bekal police have registered a case.
