Mangaluru, Mar 12: City's tallest skycraper, luxury residential project 'Planet SKS', promoted by SKS Netgate LLP, was inaugurated at Kadri Hills here on March 12, in the presence of a galaxy of dignitaries.

Susheela Shetty, Leelavati Hegde, and Vimala Shetty, mothers of the project's directors inaugurated the project.

Planet SKS consists of ground plus 35 storeys of 169 flats of three and four bedrooms, with 394 covered car parks for the residents and 30 for visitors. Amenities like mini forest, children's park, playground, neighborhood store and a coffee shop are included with the premises. The apartment is built at a cost of Rs 175 crore.

Planet SKS is built by Larsen and Tubro Ltd, with aluminum formwork technology on a 4.55-acre land, utilizing just 10 percent of the land for the structure. Granite excavated from the site was used for all common areas in the building while toughened glass was used for custom-designed aluminium windows.

It is a green building, having adopted solar and wind energy to light up common areas with LED fixtures. Shetty. The building is designed so as to reduce energy consumption and maximise natural ventilation. Grey water is recycled in an on-site sewage treatment plant while 80 per cent self-sufficiency in water is achieved through rainwater harvest.

A clubhouse comprising basketball court, tennis court, squash court, indoor shuttle badminton, health club, spa, gym, swimming pools, party hall, suites for guests, spacious lobbies in every floor, sky gardens at regular intervals and a majestic 30 feet high entrance lobby are other distinct features of the building. A Wi-Fi enabled complex where each residence will have its own video door phone to screen the visitors and the most highly advanced surveillance system monitored from a central control room ensure continuous security.

Principal promoter of the project Shashi Kiran Shetty, co-promoter Sanath Shetty, district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai, Sri Rama Vidya Kendra convenor Dr K Prabhakar Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and others were present.

Even though I am now a resident of New York, I was formally brought up in Amchi Mumbai and I am glad that city's tallest skyscraper 'Planet SKS' at Kadri Hills has come up with the most luxurious apartments. Mangalore city is growing by leap and bounds and people who can afford can live there. I am proud of the builders of this prestigious skyscraper. Good pictures by Dayanand Kukkaje for the pictures and at one time I felt I was in New York. Good luck to all residents who will enjoy with their new resident.

Congratulations Mr. Sanath and Mr. Shashi Kiran on the inauguration of a wonderful project. Having an apartment here I can truly say it was well planned.

However, the inauguration event was really dismal. The apartment owners were separately invited for a cocktail event post inauguration. The entire organization of it was shoddy. My family having attended had to walk away since the cocktail event didnt start and the event wasn't planned properly because there was lot of outside crowd still at the venue.

Its a big launch so you'd expect better crowd management overall and proper RSVPs to such gatherings after the official function.
