Mangaluru, Mar 13: The pathetic underground drainage pipeline system near State Bank which is seeping sewage water has created an unbearable stench in the area, causing distress to workers who are dwelling in the government quarters of Lady Goshen and Wenlock hospitals nearby.

Unfortunately, residents living in the six quarters are made to suffer due to poor drainage connection from their houses to the main drainage pipeline.

The water which is released from these houses does not flow freely to the main drain, instead, it is seeping out after creating artificial flood inside bathrooms and toilets and creating foul smell.

The residents are suffering due to the poor pipeline from past several days. The stagnant water has also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Speaking to daijiworld, a resident of the quarters who did not want to be named, said, "Despite several complaints to the superintendent of Lady Goshen hospital, the problem still persists. Now it is very difficult for the residents to lead a normal life in such a situation. When the dirty water is released from the houses, it is not going to the main pipeline due to blockage in the pipe. The poor quality and blockage in the pipeline has afftected the flow of water. Stagnant water in the pipe has been flowing out from the toilets in the houses and creating unbearable stench."

When contacted, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo told daijiworld, "This issue has not come to my notice. I will ask MCC engineers to visit the spot and inspect."

Superintendent of Lady Goshen hospital Dr Savitha said, "This issue has come to my notice. I have already written to Nirmithi Kendra to take up the work. We will sort out this problem very soon."

Least MCC can do immediately is, pump the drain water by tanker and clean the flow channel by removing debris. Few hours job can provide temporary relief! Question is who is going to do it??

Go to MCC and tell them the problem and come back home. That is the end of it. Chances are very low that any one will show up. Then you go to MCC again and again and the answer is, I will be there or I will send some one to check. Then there is Emergency line which takes the complaint and gives to right Official regarding the complaint. But He keeps that complaint paper and sits on it. I have gone to MCC so many times for the same problem, result is only 10 percent. I even took the officials of the Health dept. but frustrated.
Only Person of the Health Department who did Good Job is Mr.Basavaraj.
Call MLA and tell Him to cut ribbon around the drain. Install a big banner with all Congress Party Photos on Banner, then MLA will be there. Note:Banner has to be from certain Company only.

For every problem there is a solution which is not adhered by the concerned authorities. But this unbearable stench is too much for the residents to take. People living in that locality will fall sick.

    Praveen,

It is the question why responsible people did not act as of date?

Drainage clogging or choking some times happens due to negligence. (Human error)

If the drainage systems was faulty then we can blame the contractor for faulty drain lines . This is not a new drain system and It is not on main road. lines are blocked inside the compound.

For every problem we blame the authorities. How came suddenly the drainage water not flowing to the main drain . I blame the residents also for the problems. If you dispose the solid waste to the drain then the drain will get choked. If you use regularly drain cleaner chemicals then it will not block . we have the habit of blaming authority for all the problems . we do not have any responsibility towards the society.

    Praveen,
    If everyone is so perfect,
1.We will not require traffic police to control traffic
    2. We will not require police to police us
3.We do not require Anthony waste management. everyone can their waste in the municipality dump-yard.
4.Railway coaches need not be cleaned
    5. All of the municipality cleaning staff could be relieved

    etc etc etc

@Praveen Mangalore, dear friend,of course when something like this drain is blocked ,do you think People should get into the plumbing work and clear it?why are the responsible dept is there and even after complaining nothing moved?one pushes to the other.Even Mr.lobo had only to say I will ask engineer to visit and inspect.Instead he could immediately summon someone to clear it immediately. They are in a Position to do things.would he also do the same when in his house so happened?such things are not to do self which has lingered a Long time. All people are not well educated to use the Drainage.second I am sure Drainage too was not placed in right way.

What a pathetic and non-hygienic living and health conditions that too close to the hospital. It is sickening to watch around. How people continued living there – unimaginable. I feel pity on them

Cannot imagine if that’s the way our Municipality/Corporation is functioning?
Some strict action needs to initiated on responsible people.
Always better to have a written complain rather than informing them verbally.
