Mangaluru, Mar 14: A young couple was found hanging in a rented room at Dattanagara in Shaktinagar on Monday, March 14 morning.

The deceased have been identified as Mathew and Manju from Kochi in Kerala.

Mathew had finished his studies at Shree Devi College and was in search of a job. Manju had finished her nursing course and was about to join work at Mangala hospital.

The couple had been staying in the house for the past one month. When there was no trace of the occupants, a woman neighbour complained to the landlord. The landlord opened the locked door to find the couple hanging from the ceiling.

Both the bodies have been taken to Wenlock hospital for post-mortem.

Mangaluru rural police are investigating the case.

I have no words to express on this tragedy. There may be several reasons for this couple to commit suicide. The truth will will be revealed only after an investigation is done by the police. Till that time it is better not to speculate on this issue. Right now, we can just pray that the souls of Mathew and Manju rest in eternal peace. Life is short and this couple made it shorter.

Even if there is a loan of 10,000 crores on their head or 1 lakh crores
there are many who 'take it cool' and let others take tension....
It's time for the young to learn.

    It's a tragedy!
They might have had great dreams in life but everything came to an end abruptly.
Commitments were more than self-capacity. They lived in love and gave their lives for Love.

    Dear Cynthia
In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court has has ruled that an unmarried couple living together under the same roof are now going to be presumed married, and the woman would be eligible to inherit any legal property after death of her partner.

So sad. How come they stay together before marriage ? Love or lust ? Our society is not broad minded like the west, you cannot survive , need to know that first .

Nobody said that they were married or not. Anyway if they did this act by their own then it is Condemnable. Still RIP to Mathew and Manju.

It is legal for the two to live together, if they are major and by their mutual consent. However, to prevent unwarranted harassment from relatives, it is better if they register the Maitri Karar (Friendship Agreement) with the Registrar's office, if that facility is available the relevant state.

@Cynthia Moodbidri,we should not judge why they stayed together before marriage. There are Lovers who stay separate but do things which only married couple do,separate then. Here we dont know whether they are married ones or not.Because lack of Money( When not married)must have stayed in one room ,which I find ok.Apart from it,I doubt, they had no Money any more ,no Job ,some conflict,?sometimes one dont know further and suicide is a way out, which I condemn.May their souls may rest in peace.Atleast they could leave back a note?Heartfelt sympathy to their parents.how sad it is to bring up children ,study and commit suicide in a faraway place.
