Dubai: KEL talk gives pointers on wealth preservation during uncertain times

Dubai, Mar 14: Kanara Entrepreneurs Ltd (KEL) event on 'Money and wealth preservation during uncertain times' held on Saturday March 12 at the India Club, Dubai was packed to capacity and the content well received by the audience. The audience included members and guests, mostly entrepreneurs and professionals from different fields whose enthusiasm to participate made the session a unique blend of experience and knowledge sharing.

The speaker Manoj Shenoy, director and business head of Private Wealth Management at L&T Capital Markets Ltd, provided analytical insight into the financial uncertainty prevailing across global economies. After a brief introduction of L&T Capital Markets, he covered the main factors spooking global markets which included -

1. Impact of the slowing down of the Chinese economy with its positive and negative impact
2. Downward slide in oil prices resulting in reduction of capital spending byoil producing countries and its benefit for consumer countries
3. Effects of crashing commodity prices with shrinking global GDP
4. Stressed out European banking structure
5. Negative Interest rate policies of some major countries
6. Interest Rate decision of US FED affecting global economics
7. Staying away from 'greed versus fear' which helps find opportunity even in adversity

On analysis of the above, Manoj Shenoy summed up that the Indian economy will remain bullish with GDP growth better than China, both being the two major contributors to the global GDP. Shenoy quoted Arthur Levitt, "Once again, stock markets have been threatened with extinction for almost 75 years, and I have found that stock markets are harder to kill than roaches."

Shenoy advised audience to consider professional help in choosing investment avenues quoting George Soros "Markets are constantly in a state of uncertainty and flux and money is made by discounting the obvious and betting on the unexpected."

The event started with the welcome address by KEL's honorary president Aloysius Fernandes and ended with a vote of thanks by lead member Robert D'Sa followed by dinner, providing time and opportunity for one to one consultations with the speaker as well as financial advisors of the L&T Finance Wealth Management team.
