Mangaluru: First Tulu mega TV serial 'Ajane' gets rolling

Mangaluru, Mar 14: 'Ajane' the first mega serial in Tulu language, to be telecast on Daijiworld 24x7 channel, was formally launched at Hotel Deepa Comforts here on Monday March 14.

The serial was formally lauched by Mangaluru north MLA Mohiuddin Bava along with other dignitaries on the dais by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Tulu film producer and director Prakash Pandeshwar lauched the trailer of the serial.

Producer of the serial Jeevan D'Souza welcomed the gathering and said, "Auditions were held for the selection of artistes in the month of June last year and about 500 people auditioned. We have selected 150 artistes out of which only 20 have worked in drama or movies previously, while the rest 120 are freshers. Our aim at Tomcat Productions was to nurture new talent."

He also said that Tomcat Productions was planning to produce a new Konkani serial and urged the gathering to contact him if anyone was interested in acting.

MLA Mohiuddin Bawa in his inaugural address said, "In association with Daijiworld TV, Jeevan D'Souza has created an opportunity for 150 artistes to appear in a serial. We need to support this Tulu serial. It is a new attempt in the Tulu industry. Tulu film industry has progressed to a great extent and it is wonderful to know that 'Chaali Polilu' movie produced by Prakash Pandeshwar has been running successfully for the past 500 days. All the people of this region love Tulu language. I am pretty sure that this serial will make a big impact in the Tulu industry. I wish all success to the entire team of Ajane serial."

Tulu film producer Prakash Pandeshwar of Jaya Kirana Films said, "Ajane means a different sound heard by a few people who are scared by it. I am really glad that this serial will be telecast on Daijiworld TV. I wish success to the entire team of Ajane serial."

City crime branch (CCB) inspector Valentine D'Souza said, "When we were children there was no TV. But now every household has got a TV and TV serials have become a popular medium of entertainment. I am sure that this serial will give a good message to the society. I congratulate the team and wish that this serial becomes a great success. I hope that the producers come up with many more serials in the future."

Founder and managing director of Daijiworld Walter Nandalike thanked and appreciated the efforts of all the guests in their respective fields and said, "I congratulate Jeevan D'Souza on making this serial and thank him for giving such a nice serial to Daijiworld TV. I wish this serial becomes a great success."

Director of the serial Shrikanth Y R, assistant directors Clarence Pinto, Ranjith Suvarna and Suprith Kotian, cinematographer Mayur R Shetty, lead actor Kishan Bhandary, lead actress Namitha and other artistes were honoured with mementoes on the occasion.

The serial will be telecast on Daijiworld TV from April 22. It will have a minimum of 104 episodes and will be telecast twice a week at 8.30 pm. The first 20 episodes will be telecast on prime time in two-and-a-half months and the remaining 84 episodes will continue thereafter for one year.

    Tulu, konkani and coorgi serials should be shown on mainstream kannada channels with kannada subtitles. it will help to spread the culture

    'Ajane' Mega TV serial looks brilliant from every aspect. I'm sure this serial will be a super duper hit with full of entertainment & message. My best wishes to producer, director(s) actors, all others involved in this project & above all Daiji.

    I think this Tulu mega TV serial 'Ajane' should be a hit and moreover this is the first one. My hats off to the producer, director, assistant directors, artists and all who are part and parcel of this serial. Thanks to Dayanand Kukkaje for the pictures. I wish the pictures were captioned as now we do not know who is who. Anyway, good luck and God bless to the serial.
