Mangaluru, Mar 15: A youth was found dead on the railway tracks at Kapikadu near Thokkottu on Monday March 14 morning. Presumably the youngster was engrossed in cellphone conversation when crossing the railway tracks, as a result of which he failed to notice that a train was approaching. He was crushed instantly.

Jithesh (26), son of Srinias and Jayanti couple living at Kumpala Bypass lost his life in this tragic accident. He was an electrician by profession and travelled daily by bus to Mangaluru to work there. He had not returned home after leaving for work on Sunday morning. As usual, on Sunday night, he had alighted from the bus at Thokkottu and was walking by the railway tracks towards his home. The fact that his right hand and a cellphone held by him were crushed under the weight of moving wheels of the train have given an indication that he was talking on the phone when walking.

Jithesh, who was unmarried, has left behind parents and a brother. The railway police, who have registered the case, are of the opinion that Jithesh failed to notice the train approaching him from behind, as he was busy with his mobile phone conversation.
