Bantwal: Local Body Election - Brisk Polling Reported

Bantwal, Sep 28: Brisk polling was reported in the initial hours in almost all polling centres under Bantwal town municipal area on Friday September 28.

Around 50 % voting has been recorded here till 1 pm. A total of 23 wards are there in Bantwal town municipality. BJP is contesting for all the 23 wards. On the other hand Congress is contesting for 17 wards only. At the same time, it has declared support to Muslim League, CPI and CPI (M) in 5 wards. A total of 54 candidates are in the fray.

Election commission has recognized 12 voting booths as sensitive, 11 hyper sensitive and 8 as common booths. Janardhan Poojari, former Karnataka Congress Pradesh Committee (KPCC) president and Rajya Sabha member cast vote at Kamaje anganwadi booth, which comes under ward number 9. Bantwal tahsildar C N Manjunath and election officer Tirumalaiah are monitoring voting, here.
