Bangalore: Yediyurappa will Take over as CM of Karnataka: BJP

New Delhi, Sep 29: Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad has said Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa would take over as the chief minister once the transfer of power takes place on October 3.
He was addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Saturday.
"Anant Kumar, general secretary of the party from Karnataka, has clarified that he has no plans to become chief minister and supported the candidature of Yediyurappa," he said.
"A final decision will be taken once Deve Gowda returns to Bangalore on Sunday and holds talks with Yashwant Sinha, former external affairs minister, who is in charge of Karnataka," Prasad said.
He parried the question that chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has already gone on record that he would not step down from his office.
Meanwhile, the party summoned Sriramulu, the minister who alleged that the chief minister was plotting to kill him.
"There have been various versions floating. He has been summoned to explain the situation. He has said that there is no FIR against the minister," he said.
He also criticised the manner in which the CBI was allowed to close cases against Jagdish Tytler, Member of Parliament from Delhi Sadar for his alleged role in massacring over 3000 Sikhs in the capital in 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
"We demand an explanation from prime minister as to how from Ottavio Quottrochi to Tytler were allowed to get away by closing cases against them," Prasad said.
He wondered from where the government would find Rs 20,000 crore to implement Gramin Rajiv Gandhi Razgar Yojana when finance minister had opposed its extension to even 200 more districts.
