State budget insipid, lacking in ideas: Eshwarappa in Sullia

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Mar 21: Former minister, K S Eshwarappa, has branded the current year's budget presented by the chief minister as insipid, directionless, and a budget that has been presented to complete formalities without any new ideas. He noted that the government, which has failed to spend the fund earmarked for the year 2015-16 for social welfare department, has now been claiming to have set aside funds together for a period of three years for this head, without mentioning how much is being earmarked. He was speaking to media persons at Subrahmanya on Sunday March 20.

He criticized the state government for trying to use scheduled caste, tribes, and backward communities as political tools rather than making sincere efforts for their all-round progress. He decried the government's failure to set apart enough funds for these classes in the budget.

About the creation of Anti Corruption Bureau, he said that this is an attempt by the state government to shield its ministers, many of whom are facing corruption charges. Because of fear of their deeds getting exposed through Lokayukta, the Congress leaders have taken this steps to make Lokayukta ineffective, he criticized.

About state leadership of the party, he said the party workers and state level leaders are in favour of making Yeddyurappa the state BJP president. However, he clarified that the final decision rests with the top leadership of the party.

Eshwarappa, who arrived at Subrahmanya with family members on Sunday, performed Ashlesha Bali and paid obeisance to the presiding deity of Subrahmanya temple. He also completed the religious vow of performing 'Chowla' of his grandson at the temple on this occasion.

Subrahmanya gram panchayat vice president, Dinesh B N and taluk BJP Mahila Morcha general secretary, Shobha Nalluraya, were present.
