Udupi, Mar 21: In a tragic incident, a young married woman allegedly committed suicide in police quarters where she was staying with her husband. The incident was reported here on Monday March 21.

The deceased has been identified as Nandini (22), wife of Venkatesh who works as first grade assistant in the office of Udupi district superintendent of police (SP).

Nandini hailed from Honnala and had married Venkatesh about four years ago. They have been staying in the police quarters at Doddanagudde, and have a little child.

Nandini's aunt Sakamma had been staying with the couple for the last 20 days. It is learnt that on early Monday morning Nandini locked herself in one of the bedrooms and hanged herself.

Sakamma said that she pleaded with Nandini not to lock herself in the bedroom, but she did not listen. Venkatesh then broke open the door and saw her hanging. She was rushed to hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The exact reason for taking the extreme step is not known. Neighbours said that there was marital discord and that Nandini did not mingle much with people. However, her aunt said that the couple was happy and there were no quarrels or misunderstandings.

Nandini's parents have arrived from Honnala.

The body has been shifted to the mortuary at Ajjarkad.

Udupi town police have registered a case.

Vera sad.Now that small child have to grow without mother. Here Looks there is something fishy.Because her aunt sees she locks the door, beg her not to do,and husband broke open the door, means husband was in house.some misunderstand must have or quarreled before and she hanged herself ?In the past we hear so many suecides among Young women .why they take such decision without thinking of parents,or small child ,or husband?Heartfelt sympathy to their Family.sometimes suecide turns out all of a sudden murder.

Sad to hear about loss of young mother of a sweet child.Marriages are happening for sake of preventing family insults,as to why daughter is not getting proposals and without going deeper into grooms character and background of family the innocent daughter gets married. This happens in lot of Hindu famalies in Mangalore and Udupi, still backward and becomes a pressure to settle thier daughters ,just to please the world. Many problems are faced after the marriage, where a young mother cannot open up due to Paternal family insults, hence struggle to survive. It can last for sometime ofcourse it has to solve, this step of suicide seems easy to solve problem but at long run it will surely affect the nuclear family. Family involvement is important to solve than devide.
May her soul rest in peace

    Why people are killing themselves??...

Death cant give solutions to the problems rather it creates more difficult and tension to the living members of the their family.

Very sad about that little kid.

May her soul rest in peace.

This lady is 22 years old married four years back and have a child. At 22 people are completing their undergraduate degree. There would have other alternatives than suicide but who would support that alternative and provide option! Society, strict traditions, stereotypes and caste are the causes. Need to watch "PK" movie!

Death is not a solution to any problems. The matter should be investigated properly. May her soul rest in peace. Present generation children to be taught to face problems effectively and find solutions rather than killing themselves.
