Ticket-less woman traveller says won't pay fine, catch Vijay Mallya first

Mumbai, Mar 23 (NDTV) : Summary: "She was produced in the magistrate's court today and asked to pay the fine." "The police even summoned her husband Ramesh Bhansali but she refused to pay the fine and insisted on serving the seven-day jail term, the officer said. "But she spent nearly 12 hours arguing with railway officials, demanding to know why the authorities were going soft on Mallya and harassing the common man. But she declined and chose to go to jail for seven days," said Anand Vijay Jha, senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Mumbai division, Western Railway.

A Railway Protection Force officer said that a lady police constable tried very hard to persuade the woman to pay the paltry fine and go. A 44-year-old woman, caught for travelling ticket-less, today chose to go to jail for seven days instead of paying a fine of Rs 260, saying the authorities should first arrest and recover the loan dues from liquor baron Vijay Mallya.

Premlata Bhansali, a mother of two who lives in a high-rise in plush Bhuleshwar area in south Mumbai, was caught by a lady ticket checker on Sunday at Mahalaxmi station of suburban network.Asked to pay up the fine of Rs 260, Ms Bhansali, according to the Railway Police, said they should first arrest Mallya who owes the banks over Rs 9,000 crore.

"She was produced in the magistrate's court today and asked to pay the fine. But she declined and chose to go to jail for seven days," said Anand Vijay Jha, senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Mumbai division, Western Railway.

"But she spent nearly 12 hours arguing with railway officials, demanding to know why the authorities were going soft on Mallya and harassing the common man." The police even summoned her husband Ramesh Bhansali but she refused to pay the fine and insisted on serving the seven-day jail term, the officer said.

Why is everyone is after Mallya. Why is there no action against Ambanis who are getting Public resources like Fuel, Airwaves etc for cheap using clout in govt, Judiciary, bureaucrats and mafia. This lady should have protested against Gujjus who are getting everything for free. Adani is one of the gang. Kingfisher was left to die for favoring another Jet Airways. i do not know who is the owner of this company. Why are only Mallya, Sahara and other East/South India bigwigs are targeted.

Most of the comments were made on Mallya. But one must know how the Bankers have lend him loans without Proper Security. They might have acquired adequate Security. We need to Blame Bankers too. They should have recovered when he was in the country itself. We saw the news after fledding the country some courts issue warrants etc.But Very sad from Mallya side is that he ditched his own poor employees. He should settle their dues to Seek God's Blessings.

One of the most effective slogans of the Indian freedom fighters were ‘Don’t Pay Tax’ emerged during the Salt March, also known as Namak Satyagraha. It was a direct action and tax resistance against the British monopoly of salt production in colonial India.

Though it is crime to travel ticketless, this lady has set an example modern way of protest against the corruption.

This is the wake up call for the government which promised 'Acche din' and bringing black money in 100 days in office.
One voice can be crushed with easy.If voices get along it will be counting time for the government.

Banks take property documents for security reason before issuing loan. Owner cannot sale that property without repaying money to bank. It is not a crime taking loan from bank. If cannot repay loan property will goes to bank. If banks issued loan without verifying value of property, that is banks fault.
Ticket less travelling is a crime. Arguments will not help when some one caught traveling without ticket.

Just because Mallya committed an offence and has left the country doesn't give anybody a right to commit an offence and go unpunished. Mallya is being tracked and will have to be brought to trial one day. This lady could have instead gone to court and sought a directive from the court to the government to get back Mallya instead of committing an offence herself. Anyway let her enjoy 7 days of jail food and hospitality. Nothing will change in India by her imprisonment, things will be the same or worse even under the prophets of doom who promised Aache Din.

Banks are granted with 25,000 crores for their revival. why? Why these banks are spending huge money for designs and decorations of bank buildings? Why they give lower interest loans and several benefits during service and after retirement for their employees at the cost of general public.

Though it is a crime to travel without ticket, it is a bold step she has taken to open the eyes of authorities. This is called awakening.Get up from your sleep and tighten the laws of the country. No disparity between Rich and poor.. has she done a crime? This is one of peaceful agitation.. Well done..!!!

She is right, in a wrong way. Or can I say, she is wrong in a right way. If she is really genuine, the authorities should reduce her sentence for just 3 days.

Its not the right way. If somebody else does it thats not your problem.Mallya may not be a good citizen but that does not justify her act. She should be punished for her act.

Ticket less travel is a crime but I fully support this lady for her bold Step. It is not that she cant pay but what about crores of rupees mis-used by Mallya like people and politicians?.

Like this Lady, one day all common men/women will protest for wrong things going on in India.

For small amount of fine/paltry amount of fine people have to pay other wise Jail because the judiciary has full full evidence.

Big, Big amounts defaulting the banks will write off as bad-debt.

INDIAN LAW-ENFORCEMENT IS VERY STRICT IN SMALL CASES NOT ON BIG, BIG CASES.

LOOK AT THE CASE OF JAN-LOKPAAL BILL AND LOK-PAAL BILLS.

ANYBODY IN THE GOVERNMENT ARE INTERESTED EVEN AFTER DAY AND NIGHT CORRUPTIONS???!!!
