Mumbai: 22nd Tulu Parba celebrations held

Mumbai, Mar 28: “Tulu Parba reflects the traditions and culture of Tulunadu. We should speak only Tulu language at home and teach our children Tulue. We should pass on the language to future generations. We have lost our identity due to World Trade Organization. We can retain it through literature. Tulu has
lack of support from the government,” said well-known author Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla.









He was speaking after presiding over 22nd Tulu Parba held by Sahitya Balaga Mumbai with the cooperation of Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy Mangaluru, Mogaveera Vyavastapaka Mandali Mumbai, Billavara Association Mumbai and Bantara Sanga Mumbai held at Prakash G Burde auditorium, Matunga west on Saturday, March 26.

Tulu cultural programme and songs were presented on the occasion. A drama CD and Tulu calender were released.

Billavara Association Mumbai president Nithyananda D Kotian welcomed the gathering. Sahitya Balaga president H B L Rao gave the keynote address. Petemane Prakash Shetty introduced the guests and compered the programme. Honorary secretary S K Kunder proposed the vote of thanks.

    During this function, the first of that kind a calendar prepared by me using thulu lipi was also released by the President of Tulu Sangha Baroda Shri Dayananda Bontra who was the invited guest of honor .The calendar is named as "PASU " covering the period between 14.4.2016 PAGGU beginning ) to 13.4.2017 ( SUGGI ending ). The calendar is titled as ( PASU =THULU LIPIT:T: THULU TINGOLU THULU DINOKKULENA KONDE 2016 =2017= ) The thulu lipi calendar was first prepared by me in Mumbai for the year 2015 and the same was released in Mumbai by MP Shri Gopal Shetty during the celebration of Anniversary of Tulu Sangha Borivali. It was a memorable occasion indeed and an inspiration to continue preparing the same in future. Hence I prepared for 2016=2017 covering thulu days based on Sauramaana calculation. The calendar is dedicated to Vidvan Narayana Bangera and Shri Ravi R Anchan,
