Two students climb water tank at Tagore Park, create panic

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Mar 29: Two student friends, who went to the water tank at 35 feet height at Tagore Park and sat there chatting, did not know the tension they created for the people and police personnel on Monday evening March 28.

The people, in the park on Light House Hill Road, who spotted the students phoned the police. Bunder police inspector Shantharam, PSI Madan and police personnel rushed to the spot within minutes and took measures to bring the duo down.

PSI Madan himself climbed the ladder and told the students convincingly to come down.

Harshesh (21) and Supriya (21) are the students who were the ‘adventurers’. They later told that they climbed up by the ladder to see the beautiful scenery of the city from the water tank. They walked around the tank for a while and after that sat chatting without knowing the panic they created at the park. As many unpleasant incidents are reported these days, the people were indeed worried to see two persons on the tank.

Police registered the case for their behaviour and for visiting the tank without permission and warned the duo.

Both the students study final year engineering at NITK at Suratkal.

The real beauty of Tagore Park is killed by the apartment constructed adjacent to the park blocking the beautiful sea view forever. Pity that the administration killed the iconic location of NAMMA KUDLA. Again we are trying to make our's as smart city!!!!!!!

I think first ever incident that partners/couple have scaled height of 35 feet to have a cool chat!
There are so many seats and isolated place around in the park to enjoy the breeze and have a time pass.
In my opinion what they could not achieve at ground level they have experienced at 35 feet above.
Can we call them adventurous, crazy or abnormal people? Boys are mischievous but even this girl has exhibited her guts for the sake of having togetherness.

Shankar, what your past experience says about Tagore Park?

At this era when youth are busy with cellphones. .these sweet children innocently climbed up to admire the beauty of the city. It caused panic only because of the stupidity of some incidents that occur.

What was the reason to come all the way from NITK Surathkal to climb a water tank at Tagore Park on Light House Hill Road in Mangalore ?? Instead they could have climbed the light house at Surathkal for a better sea view ! Silly chaps !! They would have saved on the bus fare.
