Beltangady: Rs 73 lac cheating case - Woman produced in court

Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (RJP)

Beltangady, Apr 1: Beltangady police produced a woman in court through body warrant here on Thursday, March 31 for allegedly duping people of Rs 73 lac.

Vishalakshi Bhat, from Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district, is the accused.

Vishalakshi has been in Parappana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru facing trial. Vishalakshi was arrested on 17 December 2015 in Uttar Pradesh on charges of cheating hundreds of people to the tune of Rs 40 crore.

She worked as the manager of HDFC Life’s BTM Layout branch in Bengaluru. Once people started complaining about her cheating, she ran away to Uttar Pradesh from where she was apprehended.

Vishalakshi befriended people from business sectors, film industry and top government officials and collected money from them as premium towards life insurance policies. But she did not deposit the money with the company. Her victim includes a relative of Housing Minister M H Ambareesh.

A rice mill owner in Beltangady was asked to deposit Rs 1.16 crore in relation to an insurance policy. He deposited the same through RTGS facility. The rice mill owner complained after it was revealed that Vishalakshi was involved in several cheating cases. Rs 73.6 lac remained to be paid to the rice mill owner while the balance was recovered. Total 14 cases stand registered against the accused in various police stations of the State. All the cases are handled by Bengaluru CCB police.

The court has remanded the accused to judicial custody.

There is no cast and creed or reservation for cheating. This beautiful lady attracting the people by her outlook,at end she caught. If we see history of judgement, the punishment for white colour crime in india is not harsh. In course trial and help of learned advocate she may not get punishment as expected by all of us. Moreover she may pour money to the legal system ., also the parivars, dals to save her. These groups are very famous to give communal cover such issues by getting good amount of donation.Let us wait and see.

To krishna bhat, she cheated people when she was working with HDFC LIFE, So it is HDFC LIFE should pay. & HDFC life should take action against her & not people. If tomorrow all your money is removed from your bank account by a bank employee , then you will ask bank to pay & not the bank employee.

India is progressing after Women Empowerment.... They are also surging ahead in all fields like men including .....

I am the son of a village women who don't know to travel to next Taluk without the help of her family members. Many a time I felt sorry that she was nurtured in an environment that she can't be independent like today's girls...

Now I feel Sorry for this lady as she was given too much of opportunity in her life... May be more than men....

Without experience, is Muddana our great poet of Kannada write "Stree Buddhi Pralayantakam..."!!!??? No Right ? Of course there may be a list of people to argue that she was made scape goat by some sect of men ... Ultimately to change guard of corruption on men....

    Awaiting for the great responses....

An eye opener to all the citizens in this forum. Innocent look can be misleading. Make your assessment before investing in any forms of banking or non-banking offers. Once money is gone, it's hard to recover it back, specially with the Indian law. I had similar instance where lot of people had invested in Vijaya Leasing Ltd way back in 1997-98. company went to loss due to wrong investment, and all the investors were cheated by the board of directors by not paying their respective dues. Even today Vijaya Leasing Ltd. had not paid any single penny to the investors. case is going on and it will go on for the rest of your life. Money recovered ZERO. So be careful citizens with such people. Looks can be deceptive.

40 crores..what did she did with money. May be not her alone involved. Others also involved. When you give more prominence to womens things turn to disaster. May be all are fallen on her beauty..and handedover the money. Let them at least see gals/womens in village how they manage the home in limited source. Should proud of them. All there childrens either boy or gal doing well in the society having higher positions in all fields. They make there parents proud. Snatching hard earned money of others will not make anybody happy in life. Be always happy with what god provided.
