Mangaluru, Apr 2: A man had a miraculous escape after the Skoda car he was driving overturned and plunged several feet off the road at Padavinangady here in the early hours of Saturday April 2.

The identity of the driver is not known, but sources said that he is a doctor.

It is learnt that he was driving from the airport to the city when the accident took place.

Eyewitnesses said that the man was speaking on his mobile phone and driving at a high speed. It is said that at the curve near a hotel at Padavinangady, he made a sharp turn and in order to avoid hitting another vehicle approaching from the opposite side, he applied sudden brakes. The car went out of control and overturned, before plunging off the road.

Luckily, the driver escaped unhurt, but the car was badly smashed. Sources said that soon after the accident, somebody came by car to pick him up.

Police arrived at the spot on April 2 morning and took stock of the situation.

How many doctors do u personally know??? At times the hospital ward, patients get repeatedly calling the doctor, where receiving becomes necessary atleast to tell them please contact other doc,as I am driving..!!! I am a medical post graduate, married to practising doctor..so I know how's life!! Neways there r critics everywhere... The doctor don't take the call, something happens to the patient, you people are always ready to beat them up and accuse, and if he takes a little risk, and takes the call..u people still speak...only a medico or one married to one would know about these things!!!

Thank God the speeding driver is safe and alive after this accident. Otherwise, he would have landed in a hospital where he being a doctor would have been taken care of other doctors in a hospital. Thanks Daya, for the pictures.

He is not negligent driver nor stupid nor rash.he is very dedicated doctor, responsible citizen and humble being. He was attending a patients call.as he is a child specialist, he takes each of his patients call even when he is away from work, as most of the calls are from parents of sick children.. He risked his life,as he is professionally dedicated!!! People please stop taking doctors for granted, they hav a tough personal life

Moral of the storyIn a crash like this better be in Skoda or one of solid European cars than our tinpot Maruti Suzuki. Also always belt up. and Buy a car with as many airbags as possible. If there is bluetooth facility for mobile phone, use it.

Other day one doc in Bengluru went on a rampage killing and maiming innocents claiming he has epilepsy, now this doc was busy talking on his cell phone which he knows is not allowed!!

Thank heavens, he did not bang his Skoda into a shop or hit bystanders, this doc should be heavily penalized!!

Please do not comment unless u personally know the person, he is a very dedicated doctor and a humble human being, he is a child specialist who never takes leave from work, even when away from work he constantly keeps receiving calls from parents of sick children, and he helps them in whatever possible way over phone, never telling that he is away from work, he is so dedicated at work that his clinic closes by 12 or 1.00 every night, and that's the time his own daughter gets to see him at home..people please stop taking doctors for granted, and stop calling them on Mobile if a doctor is away from work, this is the price a doctor has to pay in his personal life for being professionally dedicated, he can't risk his own life and his family for saving your loved ones life....
