Muscat, Mar 2: The Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP, Sts Peter & Paul Church – Ruwi) will be organizing the preliminary round of 'Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2016' competition, a mega talent hunt show for the Konkani speaking community spread all over the Middle East, on April 29 (Friday) in the main parish hall of Sts Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi.
The competition, as officially announced by MCCP officials, will begin at 10 am and will have separate categories for male and female participants. The panel of judges for the competitions will comprise some of the renowned musicians and singers of high caliber from the Konkani music world.
Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) competition, initiated by Lawrence Pinto and Louis Rodrigues of Kuwait in 2008, is open to all Konkani speaking singers of Mangaluru origin residing in Oman and not limited to MCCP members. The participants should be the holders of the residence visa of the Sultanate of Oman. The contestant should be at least 18 years of age on or before the preliminary round competition date; that is, in case of Oman preliminary rounds, contestants should be born on or before April 29, 1998.

The semi-final rounds of Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2016 – Oman region will be held during the mid of September 2016. The complete details of venue and schedule will be released very soon. One male and one female singer from Oman will be selected from this competition to represent Oman for the Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2016 in the grand finale to be held on November 11 at the Bahrain Cultural Hall, Manama - Bahrain.
Along with GVOM preliminary round, MCCP Oman will also be conducting Talent Show on April 29 from 2 pm to 5 pm. It is a unique event being held to provide an opportunity to its members to showcase their talents. It would be a platform to bring out the hidden faculties among members and their families in various forms such as singing, music, dancing, fancy dress etc.
