Mangaluru, Apr 2: "Discipline, determination and hard work can help in achieving one's ambitions and goals of life," said Praveen P Kadle, managing director and CEO of Tata Capital Group of Companies.

He was delivering the 'Manel Srinivas Nayak Memorial Dialogue on Professional Managers' organized by the Manel Srinivas Nayak Memorial (MSNM), Besant Institute of PG Studies at the College auditorium here on Saturday April 2.

Replying to a question by moderator V Leeladhar, former deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India, Praveen Kadle said, "I come from a middle class family in Mumbai. I started my career in Mahindra and Mahindra Limited. Later I got a chance to work as the director in-charge of Agarwal Group of Company. In 1991, I worked in the joint ventures of TATA and IBM in Bengaluru. In 2008, I became the chief financial officer of Tata Motors.

"I got to work with two great industrialists, J N Agarwal and Ratan Tata. Ratan Tata was a different sort of personality who always thought about great ventures. He always supported operational freedom," he said.

Recalling his student life and expressing his love for books, he said, "I was a voracious reader. I read biographies and autobiographies of great personalities in fields such as industries, politics and sports. I was also keen about history. All these things have helped me in my life. I also read books on economic development of the world. From the past two years, I have been reading books on spirituality."

Kudubi Jagadish Shenoy, Manel Annnappa Nayak and Shamsundar were present.
