Dubai: Konkani Community Youth Trained to be Effective Communicators

Dubai, Oct 6: 15 Konkani Speaking Youth of Mangalore residing in the UAE, successfully completed Speechcraft Programme organized by Mangalore Konkans Dubai & conducted by the Toastmasters International, Star of Arabia Chapter.

One of the objectives of Mangalore Konkans Dubai is to promote self development of Konkani Speaking Mangaloreans in the UAE through leadership training.  In its pursuit to encourage the hidden talents among the youth,  the organizers provided this unique opportunity to acquire skills of  Effective Public Speaking and Communication.


In response  to the call in daijiworld.com,  20 youth initiated and registered, however  finally 15 dedicated and committed youth successfully completed the Speechcraft. This  was conducted from 17th September to 3rd October at Winny’s Restaurant, Karama.

After 7 intensive sessions, it was time for these 15 enthusiastic  and well groomed youth to showcase their public speaking talents. All the speechcrafters participated in the contests and following were the winners:

Table Topic:
Winner -  Gloria D’Cruz,
Runners up : Deepak Machado & Ranjith Lobo
Prepared Speech:Winner-Annette D’Souza,
Runners up : Mamtha D’Souza & Terrance Rodrigues.                
        
The Main Trainer Toastmaster (CC) Hemant Mundhra, ably aided by other toastmasters from the Star of Arabia Chapter admired and  applauded the positive changes witnessed among the participants after these 8 sessions.

DTM Mohammed Murad, International Director of Toastmasters International, a UAE National and Ex-Col., Dubai Police Force addressed the participants and shared his experience in the Toast Masters Club. His amazing speaking skills wonderstruck the listeners. 

DTM Balaji Nagabhushan strongly recommended Mangalore Konkans Dubai to launch at the earliest, a chapter  Toastmasters International, under their banner.



James Mendonca, Hon. President  expressed his gratitude to the Toastmasters of  Star of Arabia chapter,   Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld, Reddy, Donor of  Winners Trophies, and the coordinating team of Mangalore Konkans - Aboline D’Cunha, Joyce Menezes and Cedric Fernandes.
