Mangaluru, Apr 4: In an incident which occurred at Jappu Karmbisthana here on the night of Saturday April 2, a youth was stabbed by three men who chased him in a motor bike. Reportedly, three men seated on a motor bike not only chased the motor bike in which Ashit was seated, but also dashed their two-wheeler against the motor bike carrying him, and stabbed him with a knife.

Ashit was admitted into a private hospital in the city where he is recovering. Abhishek, who was riding the motor bike in which Ashit was seated, had succeeded in rushing Ashit to a hospital with the help of some young men in time, after escaping unhurt in the attack.

Sometime earlier, an accident had occurred between a motor bike in which friends, Hidayat and Sumit from Pakkaladka were seated, and another motor bike near Padil. Ashit and Abhishek, who had reached the spot at the time of the accident, had taken the injured persons to a local nursing home and then to a private hospital near Kankanady for advanced treatment.

It is said that some youngsters, who had gathered at the hospital compound at the time, who belonged to a religion other than of Ashit and Abhishek, eyed the duo in a strange manner. Verbal altercation followed on this issue, which then led to physical fight. The gang then attacked Ashit with a chair and injured him. Abhishek then took Ashit to the hospital where he was treated. When Abhishek was taking injured friend, Ashit, to his home in his motor bike, a gang of three chased the duo in another motor bike, dashed their vehicle against Abhishek's, and then stabbed already injured Ashit with a knife. The gang fled from the scene thereafter.

Although Ashit fell from the motor bike in the incident, Abhishek continued to drive his two-wheeler, sought help from some youth whom he came across a little distance away, came back to the spot, and admitted the injured Ashit into the hospital.

The actual cause for the rivalry is unknown. Cases stand registered about these attacks in rural and Pandeshwar police stations in the city.
