Mangaluru: Daijiworld report prompts Muscat Mogaveers to help Beena

Report: Koni Prakash Naik, Muscat

Mangaluru, Apr 4: Beena, who was in solitary confinement for 15 years after losing mental balance due to a catastrophe which took away the life of her dear sister, has now got a new lease of life, thanks to generous readers who came to her help after learning of her plight from a report published in daijiworld.com.

Beena, who lived in solitary confinement for 15 years after the loss of her sister in a tragic incident during a school trip to Pilikula Nisargadhama in the year 2000, was rescued on March 7 this year. A team led by Dhanalakshmi, a BJP zilla panchayat member representing Someshwar constituency here, visited Beena's house, brought her out from the dingy room, and admitted her into rehabilitation centre.

Both Beena's mother and grandmother have been sick and unable to look after Beena. The family has been in a financial crisis too.

The report published by daijiworld attracted the attention of readers, and some of them lent a helping hand to give Beena a new lease of life while others wished her well.

Muscat Mogaveers (MMK) were the first ones to spring into action under the initiative taken by MMK vice-president Koni Prakash Naik. Thereafter, Shirish Kumar Hosabettu, Suratkal and advisory committee member of MMK, personally visited Beena and her parents, the rehabilitation centre, the hospital and co-ordinated the help efforts. He was also instrumental in gathering some significant amounts from his family and friends in Mangaluru.

MMK members generously contributed to the cause and finally Rs 50,000 was transferred to the account of Beena’s parents' account on April 1. People from Dubai, UAE and Mangaluru also contributed significantly.

In all, so far, around Rs 1.5 lac has been collected and is being systematically used for Beena's medical treatment and rehabilitation. Her family members have no words to express their gratitude.

It is heartening to know that Beena is recovering well in the rehabilitation centre under proper medical care. May she soon come out of the trauma, join the mainstream and lead a normal life as soon as possible.

It proves that there is no dearth of good Samaritans in the society and people still support good causes, that everyone works hand-in-hand with a sense of social responsibility as far as humanitarian values are concerned.

Thank you readers, you have kindled a hope in Beena's sunken heart and sprouted a strong belief in human values.

Unfortunately Both Mrs.Jalajakshi & Mrs. Swarnalatha two widows, not getting any financial benefits from the Government like Pension for the disabled or Pension for the Widows. !!!

I am in touch with this family on humanitarian ground and I will try to help them to obtain Adar Card / Ration card from the related sources which at present they don't have. This old age granny struggling to survive.

My next holiday will be due by 1st week of May, so during that time will try to visit the related authorities to get government benefits for them. But the basic document to be obtained first.

No words to express gratitude for time timely help and visiting the family. I would further request that a lumpsum amount on FD in Beena s name be arranged to ensure she or her family has to worry for their monthly expenses.
