Mangaluru: Naresh Shenoy may have fled to Dubai: Baliga's father

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 5: Days after the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga at Kala Kunj Road in Kodialbail here, his father has expressed suspicions that missing Yuva Brigade leader Naresh Shenoy, who is said to be the prime suspect in the case, may be absconding abroad.

Vinayak's father Ramachandra was speaking to CPM state leader G V Sriram Reddy when the latter visied his house on Monday April 4.

Ramachandra expressed the suspicion that Naresh Shenoy would have fled to Dubai. Vinayak's sister said that Vinayak neither got any threat calls, nor did any of his friends visited the family home. "He was a pillar of strength for the family. After his murder, policemen took away files, CDs, and mobile phone. We need the telephone numbers of our friends and relatives that are recorded in the mobile phone. The police, who had promised to give back the mobile phone within three days, are yet to meet this promise," she stated.

CPM state secretary Sriram Reddy urged the state government to disburse compensation to the family of murdered RTI activist, Vinayak Baliga, and to find out the whereabouts of Yuva Brigade leader Naresh Shenoy, who has been accused of having played a major role in this murder, and arrest him immediately.

Speaking to reporters, Reddy said, "A glance at the way Vinayak was murdered gives us an indication that people with political clout were involved. The concerned should hasten the investigation and arrest the culprits. RTI is a weapon available to bring out corruption, and if RTI activists are neglected, people will hesitate to bring corrupt practices into the open. It is strange that notice was served on Yuva Brigade leader, Naresh Shenoy, to appear for interrogation. Sangh Parivar-supported forces are indulging in such crimes often. This reminds one of the murder of Harish Poojary at Bantwal sometime back. Although such things have been occurring frequently in the district, the government has failed to arrest RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat."

Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) state president, Muneer Katipalla, state president of Union of Dalit Organizations, B R Bhaskar Prasad, social activist, S C Gireesh Kumar, writer, Dayanand T K, DYFI district secretary, Santosh Bajal, DYFI district vice president, B K Imtiaz, Students Federation of India district president, Nitin Kuttar, and district secretary,Charan Shetty, were among those who were present.

RTI activists to unite under forum

A meeting of Right to Information (RTI) activists who met in the city on Monday April 4 in the backdrop of the murder of RTI activist, Vinayak Baliga, took a decision to set up an association of RTI activists in the city soon.

The activists, who took part in the meeting, strongly condemned Baliga's murder. They felt that the murder of Baliga has come as a warning bell for all the RTI activists in the region, and felt that in future, whenever RTI activists face problems, they need a system of support to back their struggle. They felt that by setting up an organization, which has been tentatively named as 'VB RTI' in memory of Vinayak Baliga, they can achieve the goal of creating a system under which RTI activists can come together and fight for their legitimate rights.

The meeting decided to hold protest procession during the next week demanding suitable compensation from the government to the family of slain Vinayak Baliga, and arrest of all the culprits involved. Putting together a WhatsApp group of the new organization, opening of a Facebook account, exchanging of records and documents between RTI activists and holding discussions thereof, creating of a separate blog etc were discussed and a few decisions were taken.

RTI activists, Dinesh Hegde Ulepady, Rajendra Kumar, Prakash Bhat, Rohan Monteiro, Richard Fernandes, and some others were present.

If he is innocent then why is he absconding? All reasons given by his supporters does not justify his hiding. Now some people have started social media campaign to support him. Suppose Vinayak Baliga was your own close family member, would you have supported a suspect who is missing in the eyes of law? Contrary to claims of his supporters, there is no reason for any political party to damage his reputation. He does not hold any position, he is not any political leader and nobody cares about so called Yuva Brigade. It is only a myth that BJP won Karnataka Lok Sabha seats due to Naresh and his Namo Brigade. Modi wave was all over the country and Karnataka was not an exception.

Hold breath peoples.Dont do media trial of Naresh Shenoy unecessarily.Even police have not named him as prime accused also they have not been able to put forward any reason for murder as Baliga had never named Naresh Shenoy in any case.Yes he had named temple authorities of Venkatramana temple but as far as i know Naresh Shenoy is not member in committee. So lets not do media trial of him unnecessarily. If at all he has done wrong he must be punished. Also remember everybody is innocent till proven guilty so lets give some benefit of doubt for now to Naresh Shenoy.

Naresh Shenoy has in the past has done all wrong things to come up in his political career. We all know that. However keeping it aside let me tell you something that is observed.

Considered as per his good friend Chakravarthy Sulibele that Naresh has been spending his vacation somewhere like Himalayas. And it is just the co-incidence that the murder has happened here, and thus Naresh is said to be absconding by media.

    1. Don't you think it is his responsibility to inform his parents and family that where he would be going?

    2. Now he is not home from 10 days, don't you think he having a family must have informed or at least called to his home once in this span of time?

    3. In due course of time, even if you consider he is so busy and he is not having network connection, HOW ON EARTH DID HE GET NETWORK AND CHANGE THE FACEBOOK WORK STATUS?
It was "Former Worker" at Yuva Bridage. Which is now changed to "Former Volunteering" at YuvaBridage. This change happened when Sulibele announced Mr. Vamshi as the new state convener of Yuva Bridage.

    4. He is termed as the key suspect, as he along with his 3 employees are missing.

    5. My say would be that, this shameful leader has brought disregard to GSB community, Hindus and RSS.

    6. Mr. Chakravarthy Sulibele said this is all cooked up by Congress. And congress is trying to FIX Naresh Shenoy. But what actually would be happening here is -"Naresh is trying to fix the police and media. Gathering support from Yuva Brigaders and accumulating money just to bribe the police.

Again I am not saying that Naresh has done the crime. But his last 10-12 days activities has dragged him towards it. I Just hope that justice would be given to the diseased.

If Naresh was not involved in the crime, then there was no need for him to hide from the police and media.
