Mangaluru: KSRTC new routes - Public asked to submit requests by Apr 15

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (JD)

Mangaluru, Apr 5: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has given an opportunity to the public till April 15 to submit their requests for new KSRTC buses in the city.

This was informed at the RTA meeting convened at the DC's office here on Tuesday, April 5 by deputy commissioner (DC) A B Ibrahim.

The DC instructed the KSRTC officials to receive requests from the public after the KSTRC sought permission to 17 new permits where the private buses could ply on a regular basis.

The KSRTC sought new routes from the State Bank area, but the DC rejected the request and instructed the KSRTC officials to request for new routes for its 17 JNURM buses where no buses run.

"Still there is time to accept requests from the public. The KSRTC's request does not reflect the needs of the public. The KSRTC officials must discuss with the public and the people's representatives and submit fresh requests," the DC said.

Activist Hanumanth Kamath accused the KSRTC of operating old buses sent from Mysuru. "KSRTC belongs to the public. It must act according to the needs of the public. There is no bus from Sultan Battery to Mangaladevi. The KSRTC officials are operating old buses instead of new ones. We are ready to wait for new buses. KSRTC must operate new buses in the new routes," he urged.

A person expressed concerns about accidents happening because of the reckless driving of bullet tankers. Superintendent of police (SP) Dr Sharanappa replying to this said that a meeting has been already convened with the tanker owners. "We have taken these accidents seriously. Once again we will convene a meeting with them," he said.

In-charge transport officer S G Hegde was present.

People who travel from Kankanady/Bendur/Kadri/Mallikatta/Bunts Hostel to PVS/Kodialbail has no direct bus at all. We have to catch two buses and it is very difficult for people working in these areas, specially during rainy season. All the 15 number buses from Mangaladvi to Panambur/Suratkal etc. going via Kadri/Nantur/KPT. Sometimes two or three 15 number buses with competition moving in same direction. Even there were incidents drivers/conductors of two buses coming in to blows when buses are packed with passengers. Why can't authorities look after this and direct few of these buses to take above route. It would be great help for many working people

    It is strange!!!

SP & DC are more concerned about Private Bus Owners than the suffering public / passengers.?

Why he rejected to permit KSRTC buses in Private Bus routes?

Secondly ,instead of taking strict action against the Tanker drivers, he said he will once again convene a meeting?

This is Karnataka Karavali traffic Police system.

People are losing their life due to increase in road accidents and Traffic departments just calling meetings to guide them?

In order to avoid congestion at State Bank, it will be better if KSTRC starts operating from Hampankatta, near Vishwa Bhavan. Secondly, there is a need for city bus to Suratkal via Kulai Honakatte, Kana (similar to Route No. 59). Presently there is no direct bus to Suratkal for people living in between Kulai and Kana areas. Also there is need for direct shortcut service from city to MRPL via Kulai. I wonder why private bus owners are reluctant to introduce services on such routes.

Excellent move by RTO,DC. Eventually all city bus routes shall be covered 50% by KSRTC buses. Currently they shall focus 1.Mangaladevi - Surathkal,Katipalla (15A)
    2. Kavoor-Bondel-KPT-Jyothi-konaje(51 or 13) and 3. Kavoor -KPT- Mallikatta- Mangaladevi Route (13H).
All the best for the initiative.

RTA should conduct survey with the help of traffic police, the overcrowded buses and recommend KSRTC to operate JNURM buses on these routes. It is the responsibility of concerned authorities to ensure the ensure the safe and confertable travel of passengers during peak hours. Everyone can see the plight of citizens in buses. Please don't expect petitions to provide facilities to citizens.

    GOOD MOVE BY THE DC.
how many people who attended this so called meeting are travelling by city bus ? How can you understand the requirements and problems of the people who depends on city buses ?
DC, RTO ,In charge transport officer and SP must give more attention towards the SCRAWLING of city buses from state bank till Kankanadi< Urwa Store< Kadri. Will they stop this ?

Thease officers must also check the time allotted to reach its destinations,,,

40 MINUTES TO COVER 8kMS WITH 15 STOPS ITS 80MINUTES TO COVER 60 KMS WITH 15 STOPS FOR EXPRESS BUSES ON UDUPI ROUTE>>> ISNT IT LOOKS FUNNY???
