Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (MM/SM)

Mangalore, Oct 6: The break-up of the JD(S)-BJP led coalition government in the state, has brought joy among the Congress leaders in the district.

The BJP and Congress are the dominant political parties in Dakshina Kannada. But the BJP has been successful in winning legislative assembly, Lok Sabha and legislative council elections in this district, whereas the presence of JD(S) is only marginal. But the BJP can take solace in its victory in the Mangalore city and local body elections.

Speaking to Daijiworld, District Congress Committee (DCC) president Ramanath Rai said that the party was expecting this break-up since the beginning of the formation of this coalition government. Even the government of like minded coalition has not continued for long time. How could this illegal coalition continue for much time, he questioned.

Even there is no meaning in the continuation of coalition of so called secular and communal parties. The clash between these two parties will help Congress in the district, Ramanath Rai opined.

Balaraj Rai, chairman of district JD(S), opined that the break in the state government may not affect the JD(S) - BJP coalition in the zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat. But he is bound for the decision taken by the state leaders of the party.

He also informed that, the party is expecting election soon. Hence, they are preparing for the assembly election from now onwards.

The district BJP is crest-fallen now. Monappa Bhandary, district president of BJP said that he never expected such a kind of cheating from JD(S).

They trusted JD(S) till the end and it showed its real colour finally. But it will not affect the coalitions in ZP and TP, he opined.

On the other hand he said that, the party is ready to face election at any time. The BJP is in a better position in the district now.

Hence, the breach of trust by JD(S) would be placed before the voters and the voters will teach that party a lesson.

A protest will be staged by BJP in Bangalore against JD(S) on Sunday, October 7.

About two thousand BJP activists will be participating in this protest, he informed.
