Udupi: Thieves do not spare even inspectors' houses in serial theft

Udupi, Apr 7: A serial theft had taken place on Monday night in Kinnimulki and Ajjarakad areas of city in which five houses in government quarters were targeted. Lately it has been learnt that the serial theft included two houses belonging to two inspectors from different departments.

Thieves took away ornaments worth Rs 1 lac from the house of Sudhakar, an inspector from fire brigade. They stole Rs 500 and ornaments worth Rs 11,500 from Dr Shashi Kumar who works for blood bank. Rs 10,000 and one and half sovereign gold chain were stolen from Nataraj’s house. Undisclosed things were taken from Srinivas Shet’s house. A house belonging to excise inspector Dharmappa was targeted too and the thieves walked away with goods worth Rs 24,000. Dharmappa’s house is located in Ajjarakad opposite income tax office.

Investigations are going on.

    Udupi now has CCTV cameras instilled and it would every easy to catch thieves. I am sure the efficient Karnataka police would catch these thieves in no time May god punish the thieves soon

    Its high time the police acted.We are reading daily of the thefts going on in Mangalore, Udupi, Kundapur etc. Mr.Annamalai has to take immediate measures and book the culprits.

    This is an open challenge to Inspector Level people in that area saying that “Catch Me If You Can”!!!! May be these Inspectors are puzzled that what about other valuables missing from their house!!!!!

    police department should put CCTV camera every where in main Road to see activities of people moving around after 12 midnight by the contribution of public money and also should carry election ID whoever going out after 10 pm specially outsiders to out city.
