Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 7: Citizens living in some parts of Dakshina Kannada district, who were hit by escalating temperatures since the last some weeks, heaved a sigh of relief after untimely rain cooled the climate a bit on Wednesday April 6 morning. Some parts of the city too got some drizzle early in the morning on Wednesday.

The rainfall was sporadic and uneven in nature. The rain visited most of these places at around 4 am. Sullia and nearby places, which experienced rain on Wednesday, also had got rainfall on Tuesday evening. Places like Bantwal, Beltangady and Madantyar reported some rainfall. Some areas within Karkala taluk like Hosmar and Mala too got rain.

The joy of the people who got respite from sweltering heat was short lived, as climate hotted up again and began haunting them since Wednesday afternoon.

Bhagamandala in Kodagu district received highest rainfall for the day in the state, of seven cm on Wednesday. Rainfall in most of the places ranged between one and two cm. The meteorological department expects light rain to continue for three to four days.

Only temporary relief from sweltering heat. (Some children must have sung rain rain go away......)
This type of rain brings more discomfort by way of increased humidity contents in the atmosphere. Also, I think it is unusual to have showers at this time of the year.
