Historic Udupi Premier League set to begin from April 26

Udupi, Apr 8: For the first time in the history of Indian hard tennis ball cricket, Udupi Cricket Club will organize an International Hard Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament from April 26 to May 1 at the MGM Grounds here. This tournament has already been organized at Ajman, Dubai and Sharjah under the leadership of Sadhiq Kaup. The main motive behind organizing this tournament in Udupi is to acquaint the locals with hard tennis ball cricket and platform to emerging talents.

The tournament will witness teams from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, from states like Kolkata, Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telegana and from Mangaluru and Udupi cities. The pattern of the tournament will be the same as league matches limited to the 10 overs.

The winning team will take home a whopping amount of Rs 20 lac and a trophy, while the runner-up team will get Rs 10 lac and a trophy. The teams placed third and fourth will take home Rs 2 la each.

Individual winners like Man of the Series will take home a brand new car, while the Best Batsman and the Best Bowler will each win a bike. Man of the Match in every game will win a trophy and cash prize.

Star players of Indian cricket, Bollywood stars, leaders from the centre and the state governments will be gracing at this occasion.


Highlights:

- The matches will start from 7 am and will end at midnight. Thus another attraction will be the games played under floodlights.

- Ground will be set as per international norms.

- The ground will be covered with green lawn grass.

- There will be a third umpire.

- A gallery with capacity to accomodate 30,000 spectators.

- Live coverage on TV as well as YouTube.

- Free entry for all spectators

- Local players from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play in Gulf teams.

- The tournament is first of its kind to be witnessed in Udupi.

- The total cost of this tournament is a whopping Rs 1.30 crore.

- The tournament aims to introduce and promote hard tennis ball cricket among the youth of Udupi.
