Beltangady: 28-year-old journalist dies of cardiac arrest during trek at Charmadi

Belthangady, Apr 8: Journalist Haimad Hussain passed away after a cardiac arrest during trekking at Charmadi Ghats near here on Friday, April 8. He was 28.

Haimad worked for Prajavani Kannada newspaper’s Mangaluru office as reporter.

Haimad on Friday had been to Charmadi Ghats with others journalists and environmentalists as part of a trek organized by Sahyadri Sanchaya to study the recent forest fires in the region.

During the trek, Haimad started perspiring heavily and experienced chest pain, and was unable to walk further, said his companions. He was rushed to a hospital in Beltangady where he was pronounced brought dead.

Haimad, originally from Raichur, was working in Mangaluru for the past one year. Sources said that he was supposed to return to Raichur on April 24 and join Prajavani's Kalaburgi team on May 2.

The mortal remains were brought to Wenlock hospital in Mangaluru later in the afternoon. MLA J R Lobo visited the hospital and expressed condolences.

    very sad to hear a Young Person at this Age died of heart attack.May his Soul rest in peace.One who wants go tracking ,should always first besides check up,be make himself fit by before everyday Walking,climbing etc.with some weight carrying .All of a sudden climbing,walking a Long distance ,and ones Body weight matters too,gives Problem who is not used.Heartfelt sympathys to the Family.

    These days many die because of heart attack at a very early age. Time for all to check habits, keep a track on food intakes, activities and monitor cholesterol, BP and Sugar levels. Do not take it easy because we are all eating chemicals everyday.

    No walk...main reason.
    Journalism is stress job.
    Sitting all long. No propper food at right time. More of involved with junk food. No sleep at right time. Watching too much TV.
