Mangalore, Oct 8: ‘Nrutya Pratibha Utsav,’ a national-level festival of young dancers, was inaugurated at Town Hall, here on Monday, October 8.

Maya Rao, a senior dance teacher, inaugurated the programme.  Speaking on this occasion, she said that our culture would flourish when youth take earnest interest in our contemporary art.

The present generation is only interested in professional courses like medicine and engineering fields. Along with their professional careers, one should take interest in practicing dance as a hobby, she advised.

Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, senior dance teacher Jayalakshmi Alva and Manjunath Shenoy were present on this occasion.

A total of 230 young dancers are participating in this fest. The fest will conclude on Thursday October 11.
