Taj, British Asian Trust partner to raise funds for charity

Mumbai, April 10 (IANS): Hotel chain Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has partnered with the British Asian Trust to raise funds and create awareness for disadvantaged communities here and across India.

The Taj Mahal Palace is the venue for a charity reception that will be hosted here by Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, making their maiden visit to India on Sunday.

The reception will see the crème de la crème of film, sport and business society come together at the hotel for a glittering evening with the royal couple to raise funds for organisations including Childline India, Magic Bus and Door Step School, India.

"We share a common ethos with the British Asian Trust in envisioning a better tomorrow and are glad to support Their Royal Highnesses in their commitment to raising funds for making a difference to the community. Our sincere thanks to all friends, patrons, partners and ambassadors who are helping to support and raise awareness to positively impact our society," Rakesh Sarna, managing director and CEO, Indian Hotels Company Ltd., said in a statement.

The entertainment has been arranged to provide a true Indian flavour for the British Royal couple on their first visit to India and includes a dance performance and a fashion show.
