Mangaluru: Minister Anjaneya to stay at Kerekadu Koraga Colony on Apr 15

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 14: State social welfare minister, Anjaneya, will be camping at Koraga Colony at Kerekadu near Kinnigoli for a day on Friday April 15. Anjaneya plans to attend to problems faced by Koragas living in this colony which falls under Padupanambur gram panchayat, during his short stay.

The one-room house of Baby Koraga, who lives here with her brother and four children, has been chosen for his stay. Local people belonging to Koraga community will be meeting the minister at this house to discuss their problems. For this purpose, the house of Baby Koraga has been painted and a modern western style wash room including a bath and toilet, is being built behind the house for the use of the minister.

The house of Baby now wears a new look with new oven, electrical wiring, portico etc. It is learnt that Baby lost her husband, Vaman, a few years ago, after which she approached government offices with request for transferring land held in his name to her. She earns her livelihood by weaving baskets. It is said that her land transfer application, which was in limbo for long, started to move quickly after her house was chosen for the minister's village stay programme. The records were transferred to her name within a day by the concerned office. In addition, 15 other families, who were awaiting land records since decades, will be receiving the title deeds, it is gathered. The proposed visit of the minister has changed the life of the residents of this colony.

The minister's food requirements are also being attended to by Baby and some of her neighbours, who have been told about his preferences.

These tribal colonies are segregating people from mainstream. Dismantle the colonies and relocate families to upper class neighborhood with all kind of amenities. Provide them with good paying jobs, give them preference in getting business related license and uplift them once for all. Give them economic and social equality. If you can't do that transfer your residence to colony and stop all these show dear Minister Saheb.

sheer hypocrecy by politicians. This is a way of exploiting dalith community people spending govt money.Had this money so spent for Anjaneya's special Eropian toilet etc.,at Bay Koragas house given to her directly it would be a great help for her family.

Why such publicity and again a renovation of house to political standard. The Minister has to stay the way Koragas are supposed to be staying with the same amenities. If they can upgrade one house for his stay why not do the entire koraga colony be upgraded to same amenities

Let him realise how reservations have been misused by elite dalits and how the economically poor dalits remained in the same conditions!!
How one section of dalits can get into government jobs, vidhana soudha and become ministers while another larger section of dalits living in colonies !!

In Nejar (Kallianpur) you will find so called dalit families with both father mother govt. employees and also all their children working as govt. employees. This is the pathetic situation of reservation.
