Mangaluru: Group of four tries to attack young BJP leader in Suratkal

Mangaluru, Apr 14: In an attempt to murder, four persons allegedly tried to attack a young BJP leader with machetes at Krishnapura in Suratkal near here on Thursday April 14.

It is learnt that a group of four youths armed with machetes came in a Scorpio and allegedly attacked Bharat Raj (26).

Bharat is said to be the president of BJP unit in the 5th ward of the MCC.

Sources said that Bharat was riding in his bike when the group waylaid him at Krishnapura and tried to attack him. Bharat left his bike at the spot and managed to escape. He sustained minor injuries and later got admitted to a private hospital in Suratkal.

The motive behind the attack is not yet known.

The attackers too escaped from the spot leaving their vehicle behind. Machetes were found in the car.

Suratkal police have registered a case and investigations are on.
