Udupi, Apr 15: Minister of urban development and district in charge minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake along with Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes on Friday April 15 laid the foundation stone for road works worth Rs 7 crore at Katapady in Kaup and Shirva, and at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore in Udupi and Karkala.
Giving details about the development projects of the government, Sorake said, "Good roads are essential for development as they add quality to human life too. Therefore the government has given importance to them. Work worth Rs 4 crore of Athrady-Shirva-Bajpe Airport road is completed. Another Rs 11 crore has been released which will be used for road development," he said.
"Rs 3 crore worth of work at Shirva under Namma Gram Namma Raste project has been completed. Water will be supplied wherever there is drinking water problem. New borewell and pipeline and other all-round development work will be carried out in the area," he added.
Zilla panchayat member Geethanjali Suvarna, Katapady gram panchayat president Juliet Pereira, vice-president Prabha Shetty, Kurkalu gram panchayat president Shubha and others were present.
Catherine Rodrigues compered the programme. Several benefits were distributed to eligible people during the programme.
