Bengaluru: After Siddu's watch, Yeddy's Rs 1-cr SUV grabs eyeballs

Bengaluru, Apr 15 (NDTV): After Karnataka chief minister K Siddaramaiah's Rs. 70-lakh watch, BJP state chief BS Yeddyurappa's new ride is creating a buzz. It is a Land Cruiser, which costs about Rs. 1 crore.

BJP spokesperson in Karnataka S Prakash said the white luxury car has been "loaned" to Yeddyurappa by a sugar baron and politician Murugesh Nirani to tour the state.

Team Yeddyurappa says it is not a new car. It also says that the new state chief needs a comfortable vehicle to travel thousands of kilometres across the state as he consolidates the party, which lost power to the Congress in the last assembly elections.

Not long ago, when the BJP had made much noise about the Hublot watch Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of the Congress was sporting on his wrist, the latter had to explain that it was gift from a friend and also second-hand. Siddaramaiah had also said that he was handing it over to the state.

Yeddyurappa has said he has been tasked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah to wrest the state back from the Congress in the 2018 assembly elections. He has set the Karnataka BJP a target of winning 150 of the states 225 assembly seats in that election.

He was the BJP's first and as yet only chief minister in South India when Yeddyurappa was forced by the party leadership to step down as corruption charges swirled around him. Sulking, he had quit the BJP months before the last assembly elections and launched his own political party that played spoiler for the BJP.

Yeddyurappa was back in the party just before the 2014 general elections. Most of the cases against him have been quashed by courts.

Looks like AAP is non-existent in
    Karnataka.

Scam after scam have been bombarding Karnataka, since the past 10-12 years. Karnataka State Assembly elections being still 2 years away, AAP could certainly set up shop and try it's luck, in Karnataka. People are tired of Bure Din and badly in need of Achhe Din.

Anything is possible in politics, as has been proved time and again, by the enlightened Indian electorate, in the recent years. Let's hope for scam-free days ahead.

AAP party workers from Bengaluru told me, that they didn't have enough funds to contest BBMP
elections last year. They r very much existed in Karnataka. Congress, BJP & JD[S] have more than enough funds to spend to get their candidates get elected. How ever AAP has promised me that they r planning to contest next Assembly elections in Karnataka. Whether they contest, win or not, we urgently need a change & a non corrupt government in Karnataka.

Vikas, do you know anything about Udupi MLA and his business!?. His fish factory earns him more than 300 crores per year and that is since his Father's time. What's the big deal if he buys a 5 crore RollsRoyce car from his own money for his own personal use!?. Secondly, he donates huge sums of money to many charities and also to people who go to him asking for help!. He also supplies water in tankers to many areas from his own pocket. Now compare all this to corrupt arrogant Yeddy!. Do you think this car is given by Nirani!?. It is Yeddy's own car brought indirectly through Nirani!. Else people will question about the source of money!. Also this car is used by Yeddy since Jan2016 speaks itself a lot!. And this Nirani, who owns a sugar factory has not paid dues to sugarcane farmers but is capable of donating 1 crore car to Yeddy in Jan itself!. So before pointing fingers at others, analyse things and then comment! !!

Amount worth more than 20 crore rupees are due to farmers from Nirani group Sugar factories. BUT he is gifting Car worth one crore to Yaddy. Such hypocrites! The excuse they give is PM's car was charged from earlier Ambassador to BMW by Bharatratna Vajapayee, another mahan deshbhakt. In fact, Mahindras had offered to meet all security demands that were deemed necessary for PM's car when Modi assumed the office, but Modi turned it down. Had he instead, auctioned his BMW like he did with his suit and settled for made in India Scorpio, he would be a less hypocrite.

Instead of making noise first file a RTI who owns the car, second did he buy it legally or import legally, after that"kisi Ki baap" can't stop him from renting or giving it to anyone for whatever reason all the above meters are legal including the reason.

Secondly for what money Yeddi or Siddhu have accumulated they can buy may be 100 of such cars or watches , they don't have to wait for any gift but they may come under the eyes of ED.
One of ur occasional driver who once in a year takes my Innova to take his fly members to Darmasthala & Subramanya once a year when the car is free. No one can question him asking his source of income and the car he is driving as far as I don't hav problem with him taking my car.
