DUBAI, Oct 13: Unlike the other days, three-year-old Ahmad Hassan woke up early in the morning yesterday. Clad in new clothes and shoes and smelling of perfume, he made small steps to the Eid Musallah in Bur Dubai with his father.
He was among the thousands of worshippers who flocked to different Eid musallahs and mosques in the UAE yesterday to perform Eid prayers that marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan. They hugged and greeted each other with ‘Eid Mubarak’.
Since early morning, worshippers across the country thronged the musallahs and mosques. In Dubai, thousands participated in prayers at Eid musallahs in Bur Dubai, Deira and Nad Al Hammer, Al Manar in Al Quoz and different mosques.
In the Eid speeches, preachers called for peace and reconciliation to experience the real joy and meaning of celebrating Eid Al Fitr.
They said this would encourage Muslims to establish strong relations within the community and with people of other religions. Later in the day, celebrations started as families, including woman and children, visited parks and beaches. Festive mood was witnessed in every corner with people wishing each other ‘Eid Mubarak’ and sharing food.
Most of the beaches and parks in the country were filled with celebrating families and friends. Many played different fun-filled games.
