Mangaluru, Apr 18: A couple had a narrow escape following a minor explosion in their car near Kadri Jogi Math here on Monday April 18.

As a detonator was found in the car, it is alleged that it was a deliberate attempt to blow up the car.

Maxwell Monteiro and his wife parked their car near Jogi Math and got out. Soon after Maxwell pressed the central locking buttong on the car key, a explosion was heard from the car's front passenger seat.

Maxwell immediately informed the authorities concerned and a bomb detection squad rushed to the spot and inspected the car.

It is learnt that during the inspection, a detonator was found in the car.

It is alleged that someone might have placed the detonator in a deliberate attempt to cause harm.

Kadri police are investigating.

This criminal act may be to inflict personal/property damage by someone who is trying to settle score with Maxwell and may not be a political or communal plot.
This is first time ever I heard of such remote controlled explosion taking place in a vehicle unlike in other countries.
Such trend if continues is going to be too dangerous in the future.
