Saudi Defense minister Salman supports women driving in Kingdom

Riyadh, April 24 (Agencies) : Saudi Arabia’s strong man, Mohammed bin Salman who is also a Deputy Crown Prince of the country signalled out that he may support lifting the ban on women’s right to drive. The revelation was made by Salman on Thursday during an interview with the Bloomberg news agency.

Salman, a 30-year-old prince is making an effort to broaden the views of those who distort facts of the religious establishment. Salman’s recent comment raises another perception about how prince thinks about women empowerment in Islam. Salman reportedly said, “We believe women have rights in Islam that they’ve yet to obtain”.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who hold the position of Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister and a heir to the throne is willing to permit women with driving license and he says that, “he do not have any issue of women driving”. Salman, a Deputy Crown Prince reportedly said, “I just want to remind the world that American women had to wait long to get their right to vote. So we need time”.

“We look at citizens in general and women are half of this society and we want it to be a productive half,” Salman further said.

Salman an aggressive leader has overseen a more assertive foreign policy in last three years. During his tenure as a Defense Minister of oil rich nation, the country has ventured into Yemen and pushed hard United States to take more aggressive moves to overthrow Syrian President Bashar Al Assad.

Saudi Arabia, a Sunni Muslim-ruled kingdom, the world’s biggest oil exporter and the biggest customer of American made weapons, sees Shiite-led Iran as its main rival.

Very good move by Salman. Hope he will emerge as a strong leader like Sheikh Mohd of Dubai & Abudhabi. Also we can expect so many reforms in the Kingdom. Pushing the women to a corner in the name of religion is not acceptable. I think KSA Govt already reduced the power of so called religious moral police. All the best.

When women have reached space you are condemning women like this does not sound good. There is even Air service operated exclusively women crew. (including Pilots)
They deserve respect and not condemnation.

Actually women are BAD drivers biologically , with weaker reflexes compared to men and less water content in body ( this increases risk tendency if they get sedative things as body cannot adsorb it ) . This may be one of the reason behind this tradition.

Its Time to Change your ignorance about female anatomy & its drawbacks!
Science has proved that women can endure more pain & their bodies are capable of withstanding more trauma than men. Space travel with zero gravity & G force withdrawing blood from brain to other extremities making decision taking very difficult for a normal person & women have shown excellent perseverance in that respect as well as fighter pilots who need fast thinking brain & actions in millisecond to save themselves as well as to carry out the mission.
Yes women are not expert drivers but they are the safest drivers, they drive with more care for others with speeds below 20 Kms at any speed than men which makes them get driving licenses early than men in gulf countries.

“We look at citizens in general and women are half of this society and we want it to be a productive half,” Salman further said.
Thanks to a modern thinking person things are moving in favor of women which is positive development.

In India women are enjoying freedom of choice on way of dressing, socialization and other privileges if not at par with men but to certain extent.(accept Muslim communities) Some traditional or religious restrictions like the recent controversy on Women’s entry in Shani Shingapur temple which gain popularity and eventually, they will reach their for sure. The slavery type of upper hand still remains mostly in Rajasthan and may some northern states.

" The measure of intelligence is the ability to change" ...Albert Einstein.
Many people assume that religion is unchanging across time and place, religion must adapt to new social and cultural realities. Religion should also change through the varying needs and desires of different generations.- what one generation thinks is sacrosanct, the next generation may consider no longer essential to their faith.

Its not the Logic....if its 75% desert(Normal like other Gulf Country), if men want to drag women to desert still they can do it!!!.but it is never Possible with such a strict law and order.....the valid reason is...Saudi contains of 2 Holy Mosques and its the base of Islam....it should preserve the culture at any cost!!...lower oil price compelled them to make changes...
