Mangaluru, Apr 26: Law and order situation in Ullal deteriorated further on Tuesday April 26 with yet another incident of attack by miscreants, the third in a span of a little more than 24 hours. In the lastest case, a banana vendor was attacked with swords at Kallapu Patla here by a group of five who came in two bikes.

Following the attack, the police have imposed Section 144 in Ullal.

Safwan (22), a resident of Kallapu Patla was attacked after he got down from a bus and was walking towards his house.

Safwan is engaged in banana vending business along with his father at Central Market in Mangaluru. On Tuesday, after his work, Safwan took a bus and after getting down near Kallapu, he started walking towards his home through an inner lane. At that moment, five unidentified people came in two bikes and attacked him with swords before fleeing the spot. A seriously injured Safwan was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

The police are investigating whether the motive behind the attack was personal enmity or revenge for other similar attacks in Ullal in the recent past.

On Monday morning, a person named Ibrahim Nafsan was attacked when he was going towards the Mangaluru fishing dock, and the same night, a group of five attacked three youngsters at Olapete in Thokkottu. On Tuesday morning, the Mangaluru city commissionerate police, KSRP and CISF personnel conducted a peace march through different areas in Ullal. Despite increased security, another incident of violence rocked Ullal hours later.

In order to bring law and situation control, Section 144 has been imposed in the limits of Ullal police from 6 pm on Tuesday until 6 am on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, reacting to the developments, Ullal MLA and health minister U T Khader urged the public to maintain peace and promised strict action against the troublemakers. "Evil forces and anti-social elements are trying to disrupt peace in Ullal. Strict action will be taken against them. I urge everyone to exercise patience and restaint. Everyone should cooperate in identifying and tracing the culprits who are creating trouble. Do not pay heed to rumours. Build an atmosphere of harmony and brotherhood," he urged the public.

Another attack in Ullal - Group of five assaults three, police hold peace march

Mangaluru, Apr 26: In yet another incident of its kind under Ullal police limits, miscreants attacked three youngsters with weapons late night on Monday April 25 at Olapete in Thokkottu. The incident comes hours after the assault on Ibrahim Nafsan by five miscreants.

Safwan (20), Nizam (19) and Saleem (24) were attacked by a group of five when they were returning from catering work. Among them, Safwan sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru, while the other two who suffered minor injuries are recuperating in a private hospital in Thokkottu.

It is learnt that on Monday night, the three had gone to a wedding near Madaka for catering work. Later in the night, they went to TC Road in Thokkottu to park the catering vehicle. The three then proceeded by bike and while they were near the overbridge close to Olapete, a group of five who were lying in wait waylaid the bike and launched a murderous assault with swords.

While Nizam who was riding the bike and Saleem who was sitting pillion managed to escape with minor injuries, Safwan who was seated between them was stabbed on the stomach. Though he was badly injured, Safwan ran for nearly a kilometre till Kapikad, holding on to his injured stomach all the while. He then called some of his friends and narrated the incident. His friends Samad and Nazrat immediately rushed to his help and admitted him and Saleem to hospital.

Meanwhile, Nizam had gone missing from the spot. The police along with his family members searched for him on Tuesday April 26 morning, and finally, Nizam himself appeared at the spot where the attack had taken place. He said that frightened by the assault, he had been hiding among some bushes near Kapikad for some three hours.

The incident was captured in a CCTV installed in a nearby bank. The images revealed that the attackers had come in a white Activa and a black two-wheeler, and that they had used swords for the attack. The police have learnt that the attackers are residents of Krishnanagar and Ganeshnagar in Thokkottu.

Revenge attack?

Ever since the murder of Mogaveera community's Rajesh Kotian took place on April 12, stray incidents of attacks are being reported time and again in Ullal, allegedly to 'avenge' Kotian's death. On Monday morning a person named Ibrahim Nafsan of Kodi was attacked while he was on the way to the fishing dock. He has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

With the increasing number of attacks, KSRP, CISF and police personnel under Mangaluru commissionerate held a peace march through Kodi, Kotepura, Mogaveerapatna and other areas, along with a vehicle parade.

if the govt/concerned authority took action when the innocent people were attacked earlier then this kind of situation wont be arise. there is a limit for vote bank politics & it should not hurt the feelings of common man. why the police were not arrested the culprits in the previous case. who put pressure on them. not only in Ullal some other place also the same thing happening. govt should take strict action against the attacker without considering their name/caste/religion. then only we can expect peace in this region else the same situation will continue.

Unless the rules change these kind of incidents will always happen no matter how tight security in place. Simply bring in UAE law and see the change. It's only fear to do any crime will reduce crimes.

Whats happening in Mangalore is very bad.

But sitting at home, don't come to conclusion that if a Muslim attacked by 5 persons means they are from Hindu group.?

Don't try to fuel the fire.

Let the Police catch this goons & punish them properly so that they won't dare to repeat this in future & spoiling the peace in our society.

Please my request with all, let us try to cool down the situation without commenting with provoking words.

Problem creater are few but why others to be suffered?
