Mangaluru, May 2: Qazi of Dakshina Kannada Twaka Ahmed Musliyar inaugurated the Dakshina Kannada Muslim Association (DKMA) at Town Hall here on Monday May 2.

Addressing the gathering, he said, "This organization has been formed for the noble cause of helping the poor. All must encourage the office-bearers by becoming members of the association."

Qazi of Udupi Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar said, "This is for a good cause. All must come together to make DKMA a success. The association has been formed to uplift the poor. May Allah's grace be upon you."

Health minister U T Khader in his address said, "I urge everyone to join hands for this project as it is a meaningful one. The poor have to walk a few steps and the community will walk many a step for them. I will discuss this project with the chief minister so that poor people of the community spread across the state are also benefited from this."

Speaking on the aims and objectives of DKMO, president of the Association S M Rasheed said, "The organization has been inspired from an organization that donated Rs 8 lac for the family of a deceased, collecting Rs 80 from 10,000 members. We are implimenting the same model as there are many needy people here. If more numbers join the organization, we can donate more to any beneficiary member and the donation per head will also become less.

"There two types of members in the organization - One, the beneficiary members and second, the donor members. The beneficiary members have to pay a fee of Rs 100 and they will get a card which will make them eligible for free treatment at Yenepoya Hospital. The office-bearers of all mosques must come forward and register the members, that is the economically weak in their locality so that they benefit from the organization," he explained.

"As a special gesture, Rs 2 lac will be donated to the family of Safwan who was attacked in Ullal recently while returning from work," he added.

Former minister B A Moideen, MLA of Mangaluru North Mohiuddin Bava and others were present.

Masha Allah. What a noble project conceived and implemented by the Great S M Rasheed haji. Rasheed haji not only thinks but acts also. His nobl e thinkings like amity and brotherhood within Islamic Umma should be implemented in letter and spirit. Otherwise our youth will be divided and become prey for the internal conflicts within our Beary community in particular and muslim community at large..
He always think and dream for good for people. He is now already chairman of Khairiya Shelter (shelter for orphan and poor), and Melkar women's pu and degree college
