Karkala, May 2: Karkala police have arrested the second accused of Nadpalu Bhoja Master murder case at Pavagada bus stand near Tumakuru.

Sanjeeva alias Salim is the person arrested.

Bhoja Master was murdered a day before the election in 2008. Before that the naxalites had warned Bhoja Master by firing in air because they had thought that he was a police informer. But Bhoja Master who did not fear them retaliated by exhibiting them the machete which was kept hanging inside the house. But the naxalites killed him later as they still believed that he continued to remain police informer. It was later discovered that Bhoja Master was using a bike belonging to the police.

There were 10 accused in the Bhoja Master murder case. First accused Manohar and the third accused Vasantha were killed in a police encounter. Tenth accused Shankarappa alias Veeramani was arrested in November 2015 by Tamil Nadu police and was handed over to Karkala police.

Sanjeeva was wanted in more than 20 cases in Andhra Pradesh. He had surrendered to the Andhra police and it is learnt that later he was acquitted in all the cases. It is said that he became police informer for which the naxalites were unhappy with him.

Hebri police station officer Seetharama, Karkala station inspector Rafiq and other police personnel were involved in the operation of arresting Sanjeeva alias Salim. The local court has sent Sanjeeva into judicial custody till May 11.
