Mangaluru, May 3: Auditions for the first-of-its-kind 'Daijiworld Studio Voice' contest, held at Rohan Corporation, Balmatta here received overwhelming response with contestants thronging the venue from various parts of the state.
The unique contest was open for aspiring singers in Hindi, Kannada, Tulu, Konkani and Beary languages.
The auditions were held on Saturday 30 April and Sunday May 1, for contestants above the age of 15.
From 15-year-old Vijeth Ullal to 60-year-old Rocky D'Souza, contestants of various age groups and backgrounds participated with much enthusiasm.
Vijeth Ullal, one of the many who got selected for the next round, expressed his happiness on making it to the next round. "I am extremely happy that I have been able to make it to the next round. I practiced heart and soul for this contest. My aim is to achieve big in singing. The arrangements for the contest are superb. I am sure this will be a special experience for me."
Speaking to Daijiworld, another contestant Tharanth said, "I started singing after getting inspired from 'Aashiqui-2'. From three years I have been trying to give my best in singing. I hope to make it big in this show."
Joswin, a musician by profession, who took up responsibility of assigning the exact scale to the contestants, said, "A few of the voices were very special and unique. I feel a lot of hidden talents have found the right platform with this contest. Most of the participants are teens and they have a great future."
The main judge of the contest was Rajesh M, a famous music director in Kannada and Tulu film industries. With 18 years of experience, his upcoming movie 'Dabak Daba Aisa' is expected to do well in the box office. M Dolvin Kolalgiri, a well composer-music director and the music director of upcoming thulu movie Thottilu, rendered excellent service as the musician in the audition studio.
The contest will be telecast on Daijiworld 24x7 channel from Sunday, May 22 at 9 pm.
The second round of the contest, which will entail studio singing, will be held at Daijiworld's Audio-Visual Studio, located at Daijiworld Residency, Bondel.
Those selected for the third round will be trained by mentors.
The winner will be crowned 'Daijiworld Studio Voice - 2016' and take home a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The winner will also get an opportunity to sing for a movie. The second and third prize winners will be get cash prizes of Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively, and all the top three contestants will get trophies.
