ABU DHABI Oct 20: Four members of an Asian family, including a new-born baby, were killed in a tragic accident when the car they were travelling in overturned after one of its front tyres burst in Al Ain yesterday.
According to Colonel Hamad Adeel Al Shamsi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department in Abu Dhabi Police, the accident occurred when the driver lost control over the steering after the tyre burst on Suwaihan-Al Saad Highway near Seeah Al Zala. The survivors suffered moderate to critical injuries, and were admitted to a hospital in Al Ain, he said.
Lt-Col. Khalifa Mohammed Al Khaieeli, Head of Traffic and Patrols Department in Al Ain, said the vehicle was overloaded with passengers and travelling in the fast lane. After the tyre burst, it veered to the right, rotated twice in the lane, crashed into the cement barrier and overturned, Lt-Col. Al Khaieeli added. The deceased were identified as 24-year-old F.A., 26-year-old A.M., 8-year-old M.A. and the newborn baby. Police were investigating the accident.
UAE: Two Kids Die in Car Crash

SHARJAH Oct 20: Two children were killed and three other people were injured when a Land Cruiser driven by a UAE national ploughed into a stationary Nissan car on Sharjah-Dhaid highway, more than 30 kilometres from Sharjah, on Thursday night.
The owner of the Nissan car, Haroon Rashid, from Kerala, was returning from Dhaid with his pregnant wife and two daughters Ayesha Diya, 7, and Dina Ruqiya, 3. As he felt sleepy, Rashid decided to take a nap by parking the car by the roadside. As fate would have it, the Land Cruiser hit the parked car from behind. The family in the car as well as the driver of Land Cruiser suffered injuries. All of them were rushed to Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah. The two girls later succumbed to their injuries.
As a result of the impact, the children’s mother, Fabina, underwent complications and she delivered a Caesarean child. The woman’s condition continued to be critical till late last night. Ayesha was a grade one student of Indian School Sharjah.
UAE Slams Terror Attack

ABU DHABI Oct 20: The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, have sent cables of condolences to Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, on the victims of the terror attack which targeted former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto. Shaikh Khalifa expressed the UAE’s strong condemnation of the aggression, solidarity with Pakistan and sympathy with the families of the victims.
Shaikh Khalifa and Shaikh Mohammed also sent similar cables to Benazir Bhutto.
General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, sent a cable of condolences to Musharraf.
