Bhatkal, May 5: A 26-month old boy fell into a water tank and died on Tuesday, May 3 at Bhatkal.

Jeetan, son of Jaideep Shet is the boy deceased.

According to Jaideep, his wife Manjula and mother were busy in shifting from an old house to a new house situated next to the old house compound.

Manjula had taken Jaideep to the new house. As she was busy in cleaning the house, she took Jeetan to the old house and handed him over to his grandmother and left for the new house again.

It is said that Jeetan later wandered out of the house and fell into the water tank accidentally. Almost half-an-hour later, the grandmother went out and started searching for Jeetan in the surrounding areas, but he was not found. Neighbours also started searching,  but in vain. A painter who had come for painting the new house spotted the boy in the tank but by then he was dead.

The small water tank had only 6 litres of water.

Jeetan was the only child of the couple.

yes, accepted. but please don't blame poor grandmother for this incident. It's easy for the parents to leave these small kids under grand parents custody. it's very very tough for them. parents will find it difficult to manage or control these kids , how the grand parents will be able to... we never think that. see now, this one small action made them to loose the kid. what a tragic incident. RIP
