Kasargod, May 5: A woman was found dead with stab injuries on her neck at Mavungal near here on Thursday, May 5.

The deceased has been identified as Lakshmi (52) from Karadka Padikochi. Her husband Gangadhara is absconding.

The body was found in the backyard of her daughter's house. Stab marks indicated that she was murdered with a knife or a machete.

Lakshmi and Gangadhara, from Karivedaga in Bedadka, had been staying at their daughter Gayathri’s house for the past one month as her husband Ajith, an auto driver, would come home late. When Ajith came home in the afternoon on Thursday, Lakshmi was not to be found at home. When they searched, Lakshmi’s body was found in a pool of blood in the backyard of the house.

It is said that Lakshmi and Gangadhara had frequent fights. As Gangadhara is missing now, police have started the investigation considering him as the suspect.

The body was taken for post-mortem to Pariyaram Medical College and Hospital. Kanhangad DySP K Sunil Babu , Bekal circle inspector Bharatan, Ambalathara circle inspector Raj Gopal visited the spot and investigated.
