Kasargod, May 6: Kuthikol Karivedaga resident Gangadhar (58), suspected of killing his wife at Karadka Mavungal Padikochi was found hanging from the branch of a tree near a liquor shop in Iriya, appearing to have committed suicide in the afternoon of Friday, May 6.
It is said that after reportedly killing his wife, he had come to the liquor shop on Thursday May 5 evening and returned after consuming liquor. His wife Lakshmi (52) was found to have been murdered with her neck slit the same evening. The body was found in a compound near the house of her daughter Gayathri at Karadka Padikochi. The husband was missing after the incident.
Gayathri's husband Ajith, an auto driver, did not find Lakshmi when he came for lunch on Thursday. When searched, the body was found in the compound in a pool of blood. Ajith being an auto driver, used to return home late in the nights. Therefore Lakshmi and Gangadhar were staying in their daughter's house. It is said that there were frequent quarrels between Lakshmi and Gangadhar.
Ambalathara police have registered a case.
