Kasargod: Reject politics of convenience, support development - Modi

Stephen Kayyar

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, May 8:

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, ridiculed both the Congress and CPM for playing politics of convenience by striking an alliance in West Bengal and fighting out each other in Kerala.

He was addressing a BJP electioneering meeting organized at the municipal stadium here on Sunday May 8 morning.

"A time has come in which we have to reject political compromises being made by CPM and Congress. The voters have to clearly think in terms of achieving development. This is a very important election for the people of Kerala. We need a pro-development government that is free of corruption and violence," he stressed.

He noted that in their election campaigns in Kerala, CPM leaders have been branding Congress as a corrupt party. But these parties have forged a friendship for fighting election in West Bengal. "I am getting a doubt whether both Kerala and West Bengal are parts of India," he commented, ridiculing these parties.

He called upon people to end the politics of convenience being resorted to by Congress and CPM. "God's own country is submerged in politics of violence. Political opponents are being slain to silence dissenting voices. During the last some years, over 150 of our activists have been killed. Those who abetted these murders are being projected as the future chief ministers," he noted.

He criticized successive governments which ruled Kerala of failing to set aside time to think about farmers interests, as both these parties are busy with politics of violence. "After BJP rose to power at the centre, we have been giving enough attention to problems of agriculturists. By the 75th independence day of India ie 2022, we plan to double the income of our farmers," he explained.

He said that BJP government has also been doing its best to serve the interests of areca nut growers of the coast. Noting that the central government had done everything within its command to bring back Kerala nurses who had got stuck in Yemen and Libya, he criticized Kerala government for not doing nothing in this issue.

Union minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP candidates, K Surendran, Kuntaru Raveesh Tantry, K Srikant, M Bhaskaran, M P Raghavan, MLC, Ganesh Karnik, Prameela C Nayak, C K Padmanabhan, P Ramesh, Sadanandaji etc were present.

Modi reached the helipad at the government college here at 10.25 am today. He started off in Malayalam, and ended his address with a few sentences in Malayalam, a gesture which was welcomed with glee by people and party activists. He arrived at the dais at 10.40 am, spoke for 25 minutes, and left at 11.20 am. From there, he left for Mangaluru by helicopter. From Mangaluru, he would be visiting Alapuzha by aircraft.

Security arrangement all over the town had been beefed in view of the PM's visit.

A sea of humanity had flown into the town to witness Modi's visit, the first after his elevation as Prime Minister. Activists and leaders of BJP had also come from neighbouring states, particularly Karnataka, and districts within Kerala. Elaborate security arrangements have been made, and traffic restrictions have been placed for the smooth conduct of the programme.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister landed at Mangaluru airport on way to the town by an Indian Airforce aircraft at around 9.45 am. He was accorded warm welcome on arrival by Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, A B Ibrahim, city police commissioner, Chandra Sekhar, and city deputy Mayor, Sumitra. He had flown to Kasargod by helicopter direct from the airport.

Modi ridiculed the alliance of convenience of UDF!
He is forgetting his own party is an ally of PDP in J&K who support Huriyath which has anti national leaning.
Why Modi is silent when under his parties very nose Pakistani flags get hoisted repeatedly on every Friday?
Is Nation First or Power of Ruling First?
The Gujarath Model he sold to become PM is now scrutinized & people do see in most parameters his state where he was CM for 13 years is most below state in comparison to Kerala.
Its Time People Realize his Bluff & vote sensibly & remain in general peace that other parties can ensure instead of jumping to Oven from Frying Pan instead of lamenting their wrong choice later.

The fellow PM doesn't understand what is the percentage of development in all fronts be it basic education or sanitation or basic health and comparing it to Gujarat.

    India is not Gujarat Modijee!!!

He is utterly wrong in his mathematics because his degree is at stake....and Kejriwal will show it how Modi got it.

One thing is for sure he is a (not only good)...great PM of our country only to speak(good orator) and administrator too... to fool and mesmerize people!!!

You can't fool all the people at all times !!! Times have changed!!!

You and your party did that and succeeded and now the Modi wave has gone..simple

    To Everyone,

We can argue on what Prime Minister said and what he is doing and all that, but I have a pertinent question.

Everyone says our prime minister don't take a break or work so many hours every day. Today for example, he was busy from morning taking part in election meetings and asking people to vote for BJP candidates. Is this considered as working for the nation? Is any policy decisions are made on that time or any other nation building process done. We see he used the Air Force flight and Helicopter and so many other public expenses are made for the arrangements and security. Is it justifiable that every tax payer has to bear the cost of campaign for a particular party. This happens with most parties in power, so can we discuss this in general..

If you are warning me to keep quite, I will take that order with respect because you are powerful than the PM of India now. Then you will have to tell Mr.Modi to cut down his foreign visits, especially to the U.S. which you hate.

Also, tell Arun Jaitley not to lament about the increased H-1 visa fee for the IT candidates from India who are trying double hard to land in the U.S., from the glorious aachi din land.

One thing for sure, BJP will win 4 to 6 seats in the assembly poll and increase their vote percentage, same thing will happen in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, it will win full majority in Assam, if you don't believe just wait till 19th May, when votes are counted, the states like TN, WB, Kerala which never heard about BJP, are now willing to vote for them, it is the sign of things are changing, best example is 2014 Lok Sabha Poll, BJP won for the first time a single seat in Tamil Nadu and increased its percentage by considerable margin, in West Bengal they won a single seat by huge margin and increased the percentage, in Kerala they increased the percentage but did not manage to win a single seat, but came close to winning 2 seats, so it is so scary to see theis radical communal party like BJP making inroad, dangerous for democracy and for minority community. Kerala voters for god sake, please vote sensibly, don't vote for communal party, if you believe in secular values. We are not talking about Congress parties secular values, appease minority, divide majority according to caste bases and get votes, it doesn't work any more, we don't want see neither communal, useless BJP or corrupt useless Congress.
Hope common sense prevails. We don't mind LDF.
    Cheers.

You commented christians are suffering. Please let me know how many Hindus are being converted to Christianity on a daily basis. In the past i.e. before 30 years have you ever heard misunderstanding between Hindus and Christians. Only since 15-20 years Christian Community ( only certain section) has become over active in converting people and naturally people will resist. You dare converting Muslims into Christianity ? The fault finding mission of Mr. Modi is getting wider while his economic promises are misfired like a broken rocket.

The BJP was trying to sack Kerala Congress as a political partner which is predominantly a Christian political party. But, wherever the BJP is ruled, the defenseless Christians are mistreated and tormented. What a great honesty?

In certain States of India, beef handlers are send to jail for long time repentance for handling the holy object, whereas the same holy item is massively exported from his own State. What a uniform holiness law of the land through pure discrimination of the holy mother cow?

Mr. Modi is the master of fault finding mission. In today's report, the Indian GDP is very disappointing. He will not talk about those very urgent economic issues, but the Finance Minister and the President of India are assigned to talk about those things.

Dear friend, every week I get reports of attacks upon the Christians in the north Indian States where BJP is ruled also in some non-BJP ruled States rarely. Those attacks on the poor defenseless Christians are not in the news. Since BJP came into power, over all, 300% increase in the attacks against the minority Christians all across India.

It is not only against the Christians, but other religious followers like the Muslims and Sikh believers in the State of Punjab was reported. So, 24 U.S. Congressmen and 8 Senators wrote a personal letter to Mr. Modi showing their concern but there is no news as yet, whether he has responded to that. Right after the letter was sent, the U.S. Religious Freedom Foundation, 3 delegates applied for a visa to visit India to talk with the persecuted minorities of India, but it was flatly declined by the Government of India.

As you have stated, if there is no persecution of the minorities, why the visa was refused? I can't write in detail about this issue, but the U.S. and the western world are watching the lost religious freedom of India now, in a democratic country.

Dear friend, thank you and the rest of the BJP party loving commentators of the Daijiworld who have kept high level of decency and courtesy in responding to my comments all the times.

I am not speaking on behalf of a party, but standing for truth and righteousness freedom of expression and fundamental rights of every human being on earth.

Do agree with you 101% what you said about the social anarchy of Kerala, which was caused by the outpouring of wealth due to the rubber cash and the oil wealth.
Those people migrating from the north western States of India to Kerala for menial jobs are telling that Kerala is the Kuwait of India.
After visiting a few north Indian States by car and train, I feel great about Kerala, but the moral decay of Kerala is rather bewildering.

40% of the Indian expatriates are from Kerala they were remitting 40% of the foreign remittance to India. 90% of the rubber production of India is from the State of Kerala. Once the price went all the way to Rs. 247/KG, now less than Rs. 100.00/kg.

Money will destroy 99% of the people. Money, if wisely used and looked at properly, it can do greater things but when money is worshipped, it will destroy our lives. " Wealth or money is an excellent servant but a terrible master".

The double use of liquor in Kerala when compared with the national data-crimes-divorce-rape-accidents-murder etc are basically caused by the wealth demon. What the current Government has done in prohibition will be bringing greater peace and order to Kerala.

Well, you don't dispute that both in Gujarat and Haryana, BJP is ruling and the Patel-Jat agitation is not a bygone history.

My friend, if the electorate of Kerala are voting for BJP, then we see the increased number of RSS soldiers handing law and another repetition of Gujarat and Haryana in the so called God's country of religious harmony.
    Simple honest warning!

How and why he did deliver those big economic sermons of the mountain while he took control of a slowing down Indian economy, besides the world economy was slowing down terribly?

Since the BJP Government came into power, everybody is watching a nationwide disharmony which is termed as " intolerance and suppression of human liberty to speak".

In comparison to the previous Government, based on the big economic promises delivered by Mr. Modi, can you tell the volume of delivery fulfilled like the job creation-increased standard of living-export volume-foreign direct deposit by the trillions etc? Stop comparing with the previous Government, they didn't promise anything like Mr. Modi did. That is the issue now, the test of fulfillment of the promises.

it has always been politics of convenience not policies and development. Its about power and profit. We don't need MA in political science to know this.

Kerala is a Communist strong hold, so BJP may not come win here. Then who knows last time when he came to Mlore, we had the same comments in this forum. However later the Cong candidate was trashed to oblivion.

Mr Modi, the PM, landed at Mangaluru airport on way to north Kerala by an Indian Air Force aircraft.

But I never thought that campaigning for one's own political party, a private organisation, is an official duty of the PM.

Can anyone from any private organisation use the tax-payer funded Indian Air Force aircraft?

Or, is the privilege only reserved for the private organisation called BJP?

I am surprised about the use of tax-payers' money for private benefits.

    @ Mangalurean,

In addition to your observations, he as also misused govt. servants such as DC, police, and what have you.

In the end, he gives useless fake bhashans, which lead us to nowhere.
