Bantwal: Fire destroys large number of trees, plantation

Bantwal, May 9: An unexpected fire in eight acres inhabited area spread rapidly and charred a large number of coconut trees, areca nut trees and plantation on Monday afternoon in Kamaje in Bemooda grama near here on Monday afternoon, May 9.










The mishap occurred in the land belonging to late Pillai. Fortunately there was no loss of life.

The fire was found in the afternoon during sunshine and it spread soon due to breeze. A large amount of forest and plantations have been destroyed.

Bantwal station fire brigade rushed to the place and extinguished the fire. They had to bring water twice for the purpose. Water was also brought twice in the drinking water vehicle. Local youth also joined hands to extinguish the fire.

    I think builder lobby of Congress is involved in this. Need thorough investigation...I don't think Niddheyramayya Gov will act on this issue.

    This incident is labelled as a "mishap". But for hundreds of years there was no mishap. and all of a sudden this is the 3rd incident where vast area of land and plantation is destroyed.
    My request to people to Protect each other with love and respect. Without these two elements "life' is meaningless.
